Among other things I bought today, along with the Edward Gorey illustrated version of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds; Black God's Kiss, a collection of fiction from C.L. Moore, one of the very few pulp writers who was a woman, and whose stories about the 8th century Frenchwoman Jirel of Joiry has a reputation for a certain melancholic atmosphere ( Read more... )

I love the idea of a Gorey-illustrated War of the Worlds! I had no idea it existed. I must seek it out.

Oh, and how can anything with a model train crash be that bad... ;)
