Hack the stove

Too damn much has been going on. Have been camping out in the house since the first toilet, 4th of July, when my host's house was full of her relatives; living here full time since the first shower functional, Labor Day, ditto. Getting used to things: new dishwasher, no more pre-scrubbing every single thing! new stove & microwave: wish I could turn ( Read more... )

Love that second story window and the porch looks like it will be wonderful when finished.

These are the features that have stayed pretty much the same. The dormer windows were replaced with semi-custom glass a few years ago, which is why you can see a reflection from an unbroken sheet (the fake muntins aren't are historically correct division); the shabby originals are still in the garage. The windows onto the porch are new replacements, and "historically sensitive" as the 1960s windows were not. The porch was rebuilt a little squarer, so only the step is really new. The decking is Malaysian sustainably-grown meranti. The original slate flagstones will be relaid where the guy is raking. Those guys with their cute little Kubota were such happy campers.

It looks beautiful, particularly thinking back on the pictures you posted when the project started. This is a big scary project, and you're getting close to finished.

We have a new roof now, ourselves. No more leaks.
