My computers have been named for sea creatures, usually large ones; somehow the new MacBook came to be Ammonite. Today's EPOD shows a nice pile of fossil ammonites. Happy Valentine's Day: 30 inches of snow, very unusual. Super melt: the upstairs hall wall soaked through due to an ice dam on the north side of the dormer... insulation value of blown-in cellulose gone to hell. I took the photo on 26 Dec 2004, but it never came together with text as a card. I finished a few paper copies in time to mail in March to someone who was dying, and e-mailed my family a link on April 1st.

I have joined the SUV generation; my truck (1999 Ford Ranger) had a crisis of the brakes and I borrowed a friend's 2001 Toyota Rav4 which was for sale... and didn't want to go back.
