I honestly wish I had answers, or even some good solid suggestions. Never went to college for a degree, so I don't know how valid any advice would be to your particular situation. I can say I think you should do whatever YOU feel, in your heart, has the greatest chance of making you happy. Financial solidity is a wonderful thing, but even in less than stellar money situations, you can be happy. Especially if you're following your dream. Won't always be easy, or fun, but I promise it will be worth it in the end.

*hugs*

It's value depreciates with time if it's not used. I'd take the lab job no matter what the pay is. Stick with lab jobs if you want to remain in a lab setting. It's easy to move out of, but it's hard to move back into... except to teaching. Teaching is good. I like teaching.

Also, if you'd like a critical eye to your résumé I'd be happy to provide one.

I HAVE been a professional researcher in various capacities for the past 10 years or so now. I do work with pathologists and the like so I can keep it clinical if that's what you're likin' at the moment. Also, I'd be happy to provide your résumé to people, again, if you'd like. :o)

I know exactly where you're coming from. I've been effectively unemployed since October, and the 1 day gigs I've been getting plus unemployment from the state has just barely been keeping me ahead on my bills. Beginning of last year I had a contract starting, and I was looking at being able to pay off all my debt within a year and freeing myself from those chains, and then I got let go because the project got pushed way back and the manager didn't care for me, even though I tried to do what I could to please her. It feels like I've been running in place since ( ... )

Aw, that really sucks ;_; I lost a really fun retail job in Sept, so I know how you feel. I'm trying to get some kind of hospital related work because I'm trying to get back to school or something tech or nursing related... I think a lot of people are having tough times deciding on these kinds of things, so you aren't alone. *hugs* I knwo what you mean about art stuff though, a lot of times just having the time isn't enough >
