It's just a game!

It's just a game... God I hear this a lot...

Is it?

Yes! Now.. What the fuck does that mean?

I'm not the best to answer this question since I'm not, nor have I ever been a gamer. The social aspect of MMO's is what originally interested me to them and to this day it is still what keeps me interested. I have little interest in playing single player ( Read more... )

Are you saying DNC/NIN is potentially the best tank in the game?
Remember what you said about the game and certain jobs. Everything is different on paper than in-game.

Enmity will be too much of a factor because of the amount of hate you produce by attacking is going to be way too little in comparison to melee PLD/s, NIN/DRKs, Apoc DRKs and 6 hit PDT SAMs. The amount of CE produced with waltzes and JAs is nowhere near enough.

As a solo job. This is one of the best, yeah.

I haven't done JoP in about 3 years maybe but I do remember the whole popping alone, fleeing and kiting around the tree with the shark near by until depop when other one opens it's mouth. We used to 5-6-man with PLD/NIN, WHM/SMN, RDM/WHM, BRD/WHM, BRD/WHM, and THF(puller/TH4). I know there wasn't SCH for sure and I'm not even sure there was COR back then, either.

Seeing a 4-man is impressive, though.

Haven't seen your RDM video yet! I'll save that for tomorrow!

Dnc/war for the most part actually and in certain scenarios of course.. Just remember damage mitigation is as important in CE tanking as ability to gain the enmity. It would be in scenarios where unorthodox attack patterns keep utsusemi from mitigating enough damage to properly CE tank. There are quite a few of these, but if you have methods of disposing CE or never gaining it (SMN dmg, self heal, w.e), then VE is sufficient...

Also, something I at first hadn't taken into consideration is the impact of the percentage since it's not going to "stack" with the PDT cap. It's either going to factor prior or after to the PDT calculation (pretty sure after). Which makes 90-20% of a reduction from 100% of the damage taken is not really feasible. It's more like 10-45% reduction of the remaining number once PDT has been factored. the 10% low part is the not-so-impressive as previously thought part, but nevertheless, outside of sentinel it's the only ability really capable of this kind of mitigation ( ... )

And yeah, it's just a game.

A game I have been playing for 7 years.

A game that has costed me:

FFXI/RoZ: 40.00
CoP: 30.00
ToAU: 30.00
WoTG: 30.00
Satchel: 10.00
ACP: 10.00
MDK: 10.00
ASA: 10.00
Transfer: 25.00
84 months: 1,092.00

Holy shit, $1,287.00 so far.

People saying it's just a game play this shit seriously, too. Everyone does. But in essence, they're right. No matter what we say, this IS just a game.. LOL.. You're taking your anger towards a nub and making it a thang.

Nah, never was a thang.. Lol. It's just funny how the comment is used.. It's absolutely self defeating considering the platform necessary to even deliver the message is... the game... Lol.

yeah, it is just a game, but if your not there to make an effort to do your best to contribute to the goal/mission/battle then go play solo where your performance does not fuck up the event for everyone else there, making it a total waste of time. I love it when I join a shout group and then we get ready to do w/e and they announce they are drunk or stone, i just feel that is something that should have been said prior to "go" time. then if they fuck something up they blame it on alcohol. I agree if they are not going to put in their best effort why join the event.
