Botting / Cheating
A thread recently written on the bluegartr forums made me realize how much the consensus has changed regarding cheating and to my dismay, how accepted cheating has become. The thread can be found
here.
In the past, I've never really approached the subject with my true personal feelings about it, having played some devils advocate

"There are easy enough to find alternatives for claiming and fishing, but wizbot has onevent, ja0wait, and a decent PL bot. Honestly, if $20 is a huge deal to anyone, they probably shouldn't be wasting so much time on FFXI anyway."

Like I said, I don't really care if someone bots. I do care if they feel it is okay to do so and are willing and likely to share that opinion somewhere that can have an impact on those yet to make a decision, or easily swayed.
Their "success" or efficiency in game really has little affect on me and the majority, but their attitude and claims do. By satisfying their ego and guilt by justifying their cheating as acceptable, and doing so via widely viewed medium, they are doing everyone in the game a disservice. This is what bothers me.

Why even have a thread about gimp players if the primary factor, money (lack thereof) can be used for justification in the scenario of the loser who's so concerned with other people's gear in the first place..
BG is a fucking joke. I want to make a forum where fucking hypocritical, contradictive assholes are ganged up on by no one. Cuz we don't need it.

Wrath seems so common and for me it's difficult to grasp. I honestly like it when people feel good and are happy. I'm not quite sure what would make one wish for anything else. Perhaps self loathing or feelings of inadequacy cause individuals to seek comfort through numbers. By reducing the majority's opinion of someone else, maybe they feel those being judged are of similar value to themselves, providing one method of attaining comfort.. Hmm.. I think bout shit too much, eh?

Since claiming HNM by using illicit tactics still carries the remnants of a negative stigma, all of those forum regulars are justifying their purchase with claims about the value of the programs other functions. I don't know exactly what it does, but the hypocrisy and such contained in the thread is definitely comical.

Does that make me any less of a player because I wanna climb the Hagun mountain in 12 seconds as opposed to 20 minutes?
It has claim tool, as well as everything else you can think of. Whether it's good or not, IDK. I don't use it. I don't even camp HNMs.
I think the package for 10 people was somewhere around 175 dollars. Chump change when you think about it.

Does it bother me in the slightest bit? No. Until you start acting like your money was well spent and start trying to pursue those inclined to listen that the game is better because you spent money in that fashion. I'll tell ya right now that it's not. Accomplishment comes with a specific feeling, directly impacted by the difficulty of the accomplishment. You're not doing yourself any kinda of favors. I realize the game's reciprocity is and has been mundane, but feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction continue to vary due to mentioned factors.
