Spammers
I hate to repeat myself, but...
If you saw what I posted in my sewing blog, then you've seen this post already. Otherwise, please note the following, which I am doing because of what hit me on the other blog.
Spammers have begun to infest my other blog, which is rather annoying.
How do I know they are spammers? They have new blogs, no personal entries, and reply with odd comments. I have a couple on this blog, too. I can't stop them from reading, unless I go completely Friend's Only, which I may do.
I have set this blog to only allow registered LJ users to comment. This should also allow Facebook folks to comment if they log in, otherwise their comments will be screened. I have also set this blog to request a Captcha entry for those not a friend of this blog. I have returned all friendings for those who friended this blog prior to this past weekend who are legitimate LJ bloggers. This will allow friends of this blog to comment freely.
For future friend requests, I will be checking out your blog. You should have proper entries, describing who you are, and hopefully with a few entries I can read to determine you are indeed a real person with a real interest in my blog. If so, you will be friended in return, which will allow you to comment freely in this blog - so long as your comments are not abusive in any way.
I am sorry to have to do this, but with the annoyance of the spammers trying to harvest whatever info they are looking for, I feel I have to do something to minimize their effects on this blog. I hope these measures are enough to shoo them away. If not, I will have to rethink my strategy, possibly to a friend's only blog. Not something I want to do, but I will.
