HKGASKJHAKJSHAJKSHKAJSGHKJAHSAKJSHAKJHSKJAHJKSHAJS.

OH.

MY.

GOD.

THIS IS PERFECT. I love how you worked LKH canon in there. Th eopening segement is gorgeous (and I have a total weakness for paratheses in fic so AHHHHH). The way you used the fire and ash as metaphors and descriptors of his disappointment and anger was BRILLIANT. Flesh Kovarian OH MY GOD. River leaving the note for him and - and EVERYTHING.

THAT WHOLE PART ABOUT HIM BEING JEALOUS OF RIVER AND THE TARDIS. HEAD. CANON.

My favourite line though is when he's watching her walk out of the forest and you wrote that the ash of the world was coating his tongue.

BEST. BIRTHDAY. GIFT. EVER.

I didn't think I'd be able to fit it in, but then I did! Originally her note had said 'thank you for the lessons' and that was going to be the night he taught her to fly the TARDIS... but I loved the whole being taught by Sexy herself thing too much.

I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKED ITTT.

And that is so my own head Canon now. .. because if the TARDIS tuaght her, they have to be able to communicate in a way she and the Doctor can't. I can just see his childishly jealous face.

I love the touch you brought to this--heartbreaking and touching but not senselessly dark. Really, really beautiful fic.
