I might do this! I am bad at plot-driven things but this prompt is so full of awesome that I will try. If I can manage it, it should be up today.

Anon writer here, just to say that I am done and am just cleaning it up now. It, uhm, sort of got really long and really quite dark, though...is that okay?

So, I finally got it done! Sorry for taking almost two days longer than I said I would: I suddenly decided it needed to get even more obscenely long, for some reason. O_o Anyways, this was a really great prompt, and I hope I’ve done it justice. A couple of quick notes before we start:

--Trigger warnings: violence and viciousness. Graphic images, disquieting sentiments and really mean comments. :( Rated R for the aforementioned and, unfortunately, not for sexiness. Sorry.

--Pairing is not the focus, but it is Bones/Spock. Bones/Kirk/Spock is my OT3 but it really just wasn't working in this story for some reason ( ... )

After it was all over and things were--mostly--all right again, they asked Spock how he had managed to find the cure so quickly. "I mean, I know you're a genius and all" Kirk said, the lazy insolence almost back in his tone but still threaded with something softer, tentative and unsure and a bit guilty, "but shouldn't it have taken at least a few days just to find the cause ( ... )

Researchers in the Science labs found plenty of dangerous and deadly equipment around to destroy and to turn on one another. The Security crew for the most part preferred their fists, and the halls shook with the sounds of bodies hitting the walls and the floor. In Engineering delicate equipment smashed and shattered and Lt. Commander Scott, in an action which would later earn him a Commendation of Valor, resisted the influence of the spores for twelve full minutes in order to seal the section off and protect the engines and life support from further destruction ( ... )

As if that were some sort of signal, the crew exploded into violence. Uhura recovered herself quickly enough and launched herself at the Captain, a vicious elbow to his windpipe making him stagger backwards, gasping and choking. She strode forwards to continue her attack, already shifting to prepare a swift kick...when strong hands grabbed her and held her back. She hissed and snarled, struggling in a hold she could not even break enough to turn around, and as Kirk saw her vulnerability and moved to attack, Spock carefully interposed his body between them and absorbed the punch himself ( ... )

The less senior crewmembers seemed to be more reckless; they paused not a moment before going for the attack, and somehow that display of purely animal instinct made it easier for Spock to neutralize them, nerve-pinching one, striking another on the head with enough force to drop him unconscious, and catching the third around her waist and pinning her arms to her sides before carefully nerve-pinching her as well. That left Lt. Uhura, Lt. Sulu and the Captain, all watching him warily ( ... )

Spock judged the Captain distracted and moved in to nerve pinch him, which was a miscalculation. Suddenly Kirk had him slammed back against the wall, an arm pressing into his throat, and wild eyes staring into his as he hissed "My turn. Choke."

"Captain, you must be aware that you cannot...exert...enough pressure..." Though Spock's voice was labored and slightly breathy, he judged that there was certainly not enough force to deprive him fully of air.

"Oh, I am." The Captain grinned fiercely and then, in a move Spock would never have anticipated, reached with his other hand for the meld points on his face. Humans could not, of course, initiate a mindmeld...but the skin-to-skin contact, especially at those centers of the Vulcan psychic ability, plunged him nevertheless into the Captain's whirling, infected mind.

As the Captain's limp body slid to the floor, Spock raised his eyes to meet Nyota Uhura's deep brown gaze, steady and clear despite the alien substances running through her blood. Spock acknowledged the fear he felt, since denying it would be counterproductive, and straightened his spine.

"Oh Spock." Uhura shook her head, her mouth curling in an amused smile. "You stand there so straight and tall and you could almost, almost fool people into thinking you're worth something." She shook her head again and folded her arms comfortably, as if she were simply having a casual conversation. "But we both know better, don't we. We know about everything you've ever failed at...shall we get out the list? Let's not, it's much too long. Your mother, your planet...you know all about how badly you failed them, so why bother to go over it again? Let's talk about something new ( ... )

The blow connected. Spock felt something crack in his chest and experienced a moment of awe: human strength enough to break a Vulcan bone did not, or so he had thought previously, exist. He remembered, as searing hot-cold pain spread through his body, that Lieutenant Uhura had not only received top marks in all of her physical training courses, but had also elected to received special, personalized training to maximize her individual potential. He would, he noted as he dodged another kick and gasped slightly as the pain intensified, recommend to the Captain that she be included on more away missions, since this ability of hers had previously been grossly underused ( ... )
