stress and forcing are counterproductive, especially when it's you stressing yourself. you are perfectly capable of doing a physics degree; hells, you're in third-year, almost done, that in itself is clear enough evidence. you're not the stupid one; the only reason you feel that way is because you don't see that you know and understand just as much as the people around you, if not more.

don't force yourself, just relax. you get the marks you get; as long as you don't have to do a subject again, it doesn't matter what they are. the important part is that you absorb and/or understand at least some of the information that's presented, and know where to look for the rest.

you'll be fine, hon. better than fine. just smile :)

'I've been in a car crash' 'Sorry, I'm in Denmark'
Sheesh, on of these days you're gonna run out of valid excuses and be traumatised by my high school friends just like everyone else ;P

i think physics can make anyone feel dumb - everyone struggles a lot more than they let on. besides, there are some dudes who do well at it but are still raging dickbags (name of person i'm referring to will be omitted) so i don't think there's any function relating suckiness and physicsiness.

thanks, I'm still feeling dumb, but better, I've had food/sleep/friendly people now. though I too am curious as to the identity of the dickbag (and wondering if its the same dickbag I think of) :P.
My birthday isn't actually for a few weeks, but other people with 21sts just past have been needling me to do something about it, which I don't know what to. suggestions are welcome.
and also thanks :)

Every one knows the monkees, you know 'Hey HEy we're the MONKEES, and people say we monkey arouund but we're too busy singing to put anybody down' etc they had a tv show way ages ago. and lots of songs, like the last train to clarksville thing and that I'm a believers song and the daydream believers song etc etc.
and in case you need forceful reminding

also I think I like being loved, so feel free to keep on doing it.
I dunno, maybe I'm not stupid, but I don't know if I have the smarts I require. I'm working on it.

I know the feeling intimately, so you're not alone. It sometimes helps for me to remind myself of my strengths sometimes, when I get in a mood like that.

Keep perservering, I know you'll get where you want to go in the end :)

I guess it would also be nice if I knew where I wanted to go. But I'll be alright I Guess.
Hey, can I use our friendship for abusive porpoises and ask you to explain what the difference between a tensor and a vector is?

annie_lyne September 3 2006, 14:26:41 UTC
Of course! Tensors are a concept that is a little tricky to try and explain in a quick sort of sense, but I'll try. Essentially a vector is a special case of a tensor. We know that we can retrieve a value contained in a vector with one value, specifying which entry we want, so if a was the vector, we can get the aith entry. We can do the same for matrices, but we need two values -- a row and a column entry. A tensor is the generalization of this: a rank n tensor is like an n dimensional matrix, and we need n indices to get a value out of it.

Hang in there!!

*HUGS*

And when I am coming to visit you???

Have you got holidays this semester, in which you can possibly accept me to come play board games or something.
:))))))

I've used up all my birthay party ideas on my own birthdays - reuse any you like!!!!

You're coming to visit me in the holidays, which start on the 23rd of
Septimus. or you chould come and forcefully invade clancys new home with me, which I'm also doing in the holidays.
I've considered stealing your party Ideas, but the probelm with them is they all rquire 3 years of prior organisation, which I am too tired to perform. I want something which requires nothing more from me than invitations and phone calls to let people know what to do.
