While 'studying' for my exams, I noticed on the top of one of my assignments someone had written

Now I'm vaguely worried that it was important.
And really wish I knew what it meant.

With no extra information, my suspicion is that 08 was meant to read 06,
and the p88 means it was the 88th paper that was marked, and the other numbers related to when the paper was marked.

I could, of course, be wrong.
(although unlikely)

mmm, I doubt it. You'd be lucky if there were more than 40 people in this class. And I many times checked the 8, just to make sure it wasn't a 6, which I initially thought it was, then checked back and saw it was in fact an 8.
