It's unique to her. It could make men bend to her every whim (or at least she wishes). She's about 5'10", taller than most girls. Emily's a little bit busty but doesn't really flaunt it at all. She's got an average, healthy shape but pretty skinny legs. It's from all of the growing. She has pale skin. Emily tried being tan for a summer and she couldn't have looked stranger. 10 Words to describe your character: bold, cheeky, loyal, confident, friendly, honest, intelligent, independent, energetic, competitive

EXTENDED APPLICATION -- PLEASE DO AT LEAST A PARAGRAPH ON EACH OF THESE, UNLESS THEY ARE STATED TO BE OPTIONAL
Personality: Emily is a very fun, energetic person. She spent way too long being shy and reserved, at least she thinks so. She's come out of her shell. Emily likes to express her opinions. She wants to be a leader, rather than a follower. She doesn't really care anymore what anyone thinks of her. When she first came to Hogwarts, she was concerned about everyone liking her. She almost expected everyone to respect her because her family was well-to-do. She learned quickly that she was a muggleborn and that meant she wasn't as good as everyone else.

Emily hates lying and liars. She's an open book and wouldn't have it any other way. Sometimes she'll "hide the truth" and just not say anything but she won't deny information. She doesn't feel right about it.

Emily loves to change things up. She'll take a new way to class, only to discover it makes her quite late at times. She'll try a new juice at dinner. She hates monotony. She's changed her hair style multiple times from long and wavy to short and saucy but never the color. She loved first coming to Hogwarts because it was something so different from home. The magical world is a great escape for her. Emily also loves people. She loves to talk to people and make new friends. She really tries to not scare them off with her argumentativeness, competitiveness and sarcasm. She can be quite charming when she tries. She likes to have fun and loves laughter. She's not really hilarious herself but she loves to laugh.

Some of her habits include chewing gum, dancing around and singing old show tunes with David. She likes music and most of her schoolwork. She knows not everyone will be in love with her. She respects that and almost doesn't blame them. But she doesn't think that just because you don't like someone means you should poke fun at them behind their back. She's not one of those to stand around when someone is being teased. She'll defend the person, most of the time and tell you to quit it. However, she loves to tease playfully. She's got a dry sense of humor that has really developed because of her mother.

Strengths: Both magical and personality: Emily is bold. She speaks her mind but never with a malicious intent. She just doesn't believe in lying. She's friendly and loves to be around people, just not attached to people. She likes to be a leader and certainly has enough energy for it.

Emily has always been a good student. She's naturally intelligent and she usually studies, but only if necessary. If she has a test in Care of Magical Creatures, she doesn't feel the need to study. It comes naturally to her. She enjoys most of her classes except for the terribly droll like History of Magic. Her OWLs were a bit disappointing. Emily would've rather had higher scores but she got an OWL for all of the ones she attempted. It's something to be proud of. She received three O's (Potions, Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures), three E's (DADA, Charms, Astronomy) and three A's (Transfiguration, History of Magic and Arithmancy). She absolutely hated the written exam for Transfiguration. She's convinced if it had only been practical, she would've gotten more than one O for it! However she begged to be let into NEWT Transfiguration. It was definitely essential to any career (except an Astronomer) and she decided to drop Astronomy. She's considering becoming a Healer specializing in Potions or Creature Related Incidents and is currently studying towards it.

Weaknesses: Both magical and personality: Emily can be too independent for her own good. At times she pushes people away because she is so determined to be her own person. Relationships are tough for her and the fear she's had were pretty rough. She doesn't really want any sort of commitment to anything, really but especially people. It's a wonder she's been BFF with the same person for so long. Emily is also rather competitive. It comes from growing up on the back burner. She can get pretty fierce and some people are a little intimidated by that. Competition is serious for her and Emily knows that taking it too seriously is a horrifying habit but she can't always help herself.

She's got a terrible addiction to sweets and asks everyone around her to make sure she doesn't eat any. They are nearly her kryptonite. Sugars, caffeines, alcohol, etc. all cause weird chemical reactions and Emily either gets crazy hyperactive or really reserved. It's really quite a scene as she doesn't stop talking or moving or on the flip side, you can't get her to do much of anything. Both are very different from the normal Emily and she really tries to avoid such. Of course after those spells of sugar highs, Emily gets light headed and feels the need to sleep in the nearest person's arms. She really just crashes once she comes down from her glorious mountain of sugar, chocolate and sweets.

Without the sugar high crash, Emily has a lot of trouble sleeping. She's taken to sleep walking in the last few years. It can be troublesome at Hogwarts when you wake up in some random corridor. She's gotten a lot better and usually ends up in the common room or at least by the portrait. However, it's not like it happens every night. It's only every once in a while when she forgets to take her sleeping potion.

Magically, Emily is weak at theory. She's great at practical Transfiguration but she couldn't tell you what she's doing or the theory behind it. It drove her mad that she only got an A on the OWL Exam and begged to be allowed into NEWT Transfiguration. Emily's not good at Arithmancy for nearly the same reasons. It's a lot of theory and that's just not her deal. History of Magic is just boring. Emily is a hands on person. Classes where a lot of it is thinking about what's going behind the magic isn't her bag. That's why she excels in Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures and crashes in History of Magic and Arithmancy. It took a while for Emily to even learn how to fly. She wasn't very good at it and still isn't. She'd rather just keep her feet on the ground because it's a whole lot easier than trying to control a broom.

Fears/Motivations: Emily's biggest fear is forever living in the shadow of her brother and sister. She predicts her sister will go on to be a world renown impresario of piano (Mariela's practically halfway there) and her brother will go on to become Prime Minister of England if her dad has anything to do with it. It makes Emily even more determined to be a very successful Healer.

Emily also has a fear of frogs. She feels rather plagued (hah) by them. When she was 5, a giant frog jumped into her kiddy pool. It was not okay with her, especially when it attached itself to her. At the age of 7, she was pouring a bowl of cereal and what tumbled out but a big nasty frog! When Emily was 12, she was putting away her clean laundry when a frog popped out from under her knickers! She was thoroughly disgusted. Not only would she not sleep in her room for the next two months, but she also threw away the basket of laundry. Especially in Hogwarts, she has to deal with toads which are very similar to frogs except a step above in the DISGUSTING department.

Emily also doesn't like to admit to anyone that she plays the piano. Her sister is much better than she as Mariela always had lessons. She fears being judged even harsher than usual. Her very secret dream is to leave Hogwarts and play in some jazz band in a shady bar somewhere in America (she's heard of a certain Foggy Goggles in Boston that sounds both scandalous and altogether perfect!). Emily is scared that she won't be able to commit to one person and won't ever find true love or anything close to.

History: Emily was born in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands to Arend and Johanna St. James. Her sister, Mariela, was 2-years-old at the time of Emily's birth. Her father was from Amsterdam but moved to The Hague to pursue a political career. He came from an old society family. Emily's mother, Johanna Dietrich, was from Berlin, Germany. She moved to South Holland for higher education at what is now known as The Hague University. They met while she was interning at Hoge Raad der Nederlanden (Supreme Court). It was love and they married in 1985 when Johanna was 22 and Arend was 25. The family continued living in The Hague after her brother, Klaus, was born when Emily was five. It wasn't until after she turned eight that her parents decided to move to England. Her father was offered a teaching position.

They moved to Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, England. While her mother never finished her proper schooling, she became a popular political satirist for a newspaper based in London. Johanna has been writing a weekly feature for over ten years and is preparing for her first book to be published. Arend became a professor in Law at the University of Gloucestershire and has published papers on law practices in theory. The family is well off but not incredibly. Private education for all three children, plus piano lessons for Mariela, club sports for Klaus, and the traveling fees for both put a strain on the money tree in the garden. It's only because of her American uncle that Emily' can afford Hogwarts.

Emily attended the Cotswold School until she was invited to Hogwarts. She didn't really get along with anybody else. Emily was so different from everybody else with vibrant red hair, tall stature and accented English. She hated the Cotswold School. It was miserable being the outsider. Even after she had attended school with the kids for more than a year, she would get teased for the most absurd things. The thing she hated most was when people would ask her to repeat herself over and over. She didn't think her English was bad at all and her accent certainly wasn't that thick. In any case, Emily practiced extremely hard and has completely lost her Dutch accent. She's kind of adopted an English one but it's not as heavy as most.

Her only friend from her childhood was David Blevins. When she found out he was a wizard, it was the best surprise ever. They've been best friends for a while now and it would kill her when David visited his father. Being in the same house at Hogwarts has really only made them even closer. They just sort of click.

As far as anyone knows, Emily is the first witch in both the St. James and Dietrich clan. It was quite a surprise. Her parents were reluctant to let her go but her rich Uncle Pennybags (who lives in America and was on a visit when she received her Hogwarts letter) convinced them to let her go. He said he would help pay for the special education and this has led Emily to suspect that maybe he's a wizard or he actually really likes Emily more than Mariela or Klaus.

When Emily first entered Hogwarts, she was cheeky, mouthy, egotistical and she had an incredibly terrible attitude. But many teachers still found her to be an excellent pupil because she was naturally intelligent and she still did her work. However, Emily was not a joy to have in class. She became the epitome of the loud, brash and rather obnoxious Gryffindor. She received many detentions in her first four years at Hogwarts. She's still quite cheeky but only to students and on occasion, her parents much to their displeasure. Emily has become much more charming over the past few years. It's really a sign of growing up and being more mature. She's become level-headed and less hyper. She can still be obnoxious. She's fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Her brother and sister may make her a bit nutty but she would protect them in a quick beat.

In her 2nd year, a Slytherin made fun of her family and her muggle heritage but it wasn't until the beginning of her 5th year that she was called a mudblood. It was the first time anyone had truly offended Emily and yes, it made her cry. She hasn't forgotten about it. That rude person has become her best enemy. Since then she's been called mudblood plenty of times, but it was the first time that affected her the most. It was the first time anyone had truly offended Emily and yes, it made her cry.

Hogwarts, for her, was an explanation to why she was an outsider in her family and at school. Her brother and sister never had nearly as much trouble as she did in school. She didn't understand why she stood out more than them. But now she could explain it. Hogwarts was the place she could finally call home. It was a good fit.

Significant Relationships:
Family: Optional: Emily doesn't have a particularly good relationship with Mariela or Klaus. Mariela and Klaus are close; Emily likes to think they bonded because they were so much better than Emily. It's (probably) not true but it makes her feel even more like an outsider in her family. Add witch on top of that and the feeling grows. Emily loves her mother a lot. They're very similar and Emily gets her flaming red hair from her. However, Johanna was the one who traveled with Mariela and left Emily alone with her father and brother. Emily doesn't really talk to her dad.
Friends: Optional: David Blevins is her best friend in the entire world. He's the only person she got along with in Bourton-on-the-Water and she's glad they get to attend Hogwarts together.
Other: Optional:

Special Considerations: Such as broom ownership, being an animagus, famous in some form, or a metamorphmagus. All are subject to mod approval, and if you are given special considerations, you are liable to be used for plots at the Plot Mod's command. Well she's not famous but her mother is well-known among muggles.
