A few years ago at church camp I was 16 years old and was therefore disqualified from scoring (tournament rules). The goalkeeper of the opposite team saved a long distance shot (paul crosby for those who know). He then proceeded to put the ball down, I ran in, collected the ball and then passed the ball to a younger person on my team who didn't know what was happening but responded to my screams to put the ball in the back of the net. We won the game 1-0. Paul (the goalie) always maintained that he did not know that the ball was in play when he put it down, I guessed from the way he was playing that he did not know either ( ... )

The goal you have described (Paul Crosby, I dont know you & please dont take offence), was the keeper's fault. He lacked concentration as he should have known that the ball was in play. That's a player mistake ( ... )

Yeah the referees should definetly enforce some consistant rule... however I would not ever blame the players.
