I bought an English cucumber "Great for salads" from PnP.   It has a Double your money back guarantee which is great; but then it also carries the caution "Rinse well before use".  I don't see any other vegetables with this instruction. Should I be worried?

I reckon you should wash all y'r veg, salad or otherwise. It may be prewashed, but that doesn't guarantee it's clean. All that's needed is a swill and a rub down under running water to get rid of a good portion of the miscellaneous bacteria, insecticides, fertilizers, earth and occasional slugs, greenfly, caterpillars, etc. which don't make it off the produce before it gets boxed and shipped.

That sounds like good advise pcb! I started to think that there was something that made cucumbers different

I don't think so; I think the 'hazard', although that's quite a strong term, is present with most things that have come out of the ground.
