It makes me sad when friends bash each other. Arguing is good. Bashing is bad. Even if it is all in good fun, you just don't bash your friends when it comes to politics and religion. The election is over and whether what happened was a good or a bad thing, your friends are your friends. One of the things I learned from my brief stint in the ( Read more... )

Thanks for posting this. Our country is divided enough already. We need to remember to discuss our opinions and feelings about issues with respect. Feeling passionately about something is all well and good, but it can be expressed in a way that isn't hateful or hurtful.

When dealing with the slime that make up most of the politicians in this country, that is correct. I don't fault them. In order to win the game that is our government you have to play by the rules and those who think otherwise are naive.

All I am saying is that when it comes to interacting with your friends or people who you would like to be your friends, respect always prevails. Hardballing your friends gets you nowhere in the long-run and those that are swayed by such tactics will be swayed again with the next hardball tactic somebody else uses.

As for my disgust, I try to minimize it as much as I can. If I really couldn't stand what was happening with my life, I would change it. For me at least, it really is that simple. :)

That seems fair. I too share your frustration with the ways people (especially the press) are urging us to go back to normal and for us to be a united country again. In my mind, that is ignoring the real problem at hand which is that things are not ok in this country. What are things? Take your pick. The Republicans have won and that is the reality of the situation. They are 5 votes short and being able to steamroller any filabuster that comes to the floor in the Senate and unless the Democrats can band together (which they haven't shown they can do), Bush and the Republicans will be responsible for all change over the next 4 years ( ... )
