Does anyone know how to run an OS from a CD? It's for a class....but I have no idea how to do this. Says I have to...adjust the boot list in BIOS Setup?

Help me, Kenobis.

usually, but not always, the BIOS will already check to see if there's a "boot from CD" option, and if there's a bootable CD in the drive, it'll run from that.
otherwise, when the computer starts up, there's a brief display that tells you to press function keys to get to Setup; usually like f8 or f11 or something.
from there, you'll have the option to adjust the boot order. move "CD" in the queue before "hard drive" (or HDD); "floppy" is usually the first in the list, so work from there.

The most common key to press to get into the BIOS is "DEL". If your machine is a Gateway, try F1; a Compaq will use F5. Other brands use other keys, but "DEL" has become pretty standard. So you reboot your machine and impatiently tap (not hold down) the DEL key ( ... )

Here's a list of keys used to get into the BIOS, alphabetized by brand.

Here's a manual for AMI BIOS, one of the more common BIOS manufacturers, and here's an example of the sub-menu you're looking for. Actual appearance may vary, but you can see the list of options for "First Boot Device" and so on.
