Does it really matter whether the anecdote is an urban myth or not? To be honest, I didn't take it as a specific case or place where people needed to be concerned. I read it as an example of why women needed to be concerned. I'm not in the habit of stirring up paranoia (one of the reasons I don't forward most chain emails). I agree that crimes happen less often than we think they do. Scientific studies prove that. We feel crime is more prevalent than it is because of the way the newspapers and tv shows and other media sensationalize it. Yes, we have a skewed world view. I'm the first to admit it ( ... )
