How To Install Custom Mood Themes

Aug 31, 2008 12:24

A few people have been asking me how to install the mood themes I've made, both for plus and paid accounts, so I figured the best thing to do would be to write a tutorial.

So first off, how to install custom mood themes with a plus account. I'm not sure how the basic account works, it may be the same, it may not, I just don't know. Sorry.
The first thing you have to do, obviously, is to download the theme from the link. Once you have all 132 mood theme pics saved on your computer, you have to upload them all to an image host. Photobucket is a popular choice.

Once you have your icons uploaded, come back to LiveJournal. Go Journal > Customize Journal Theme.

Scroll down to the Mood Themes section.

Click on 'edit/create custom mood themes'.

Type the desired name of your mood theme into the box. This can be anything you like. For example 'Edward/Bella and Robert/Kristen', and click 'create'.

You will now see a list of all 132 moods, with a url box beneath each one. Now you go back to your image host and copy the url of each individual mood theme icon into the correct box on this page. You will also need to add the height and width for each one, otherwise they will not show up. All of my anmated mood themes have a width of 86px and a height of 56px.

Once you've added every mood icon, click on 'save changes' at the bottom of the page.

And you're done!

To use your new mood theme, simply click the 'use' button beside it and it'll show up on your journal :)

And now for paid acounts. This is remarkably quicker and easier. Thank you to lambietoes for helping me understand how it works :)
As with plus accounts, you need to download the mood theme and upload the pics to your image host. After that, you need to go to the Admin Console and type moodtheme_create "Title of Theme" "Short Description of Theme" into the box. Replace "Title of Theme" with the title you wish your mood theme to have (e.g. "Edward/Bella and Robert/Kristen") and replace "Short Description of Theme" with a short description of the mood theme (e.g. "Edward/Bella dnd Robert/Kristen Animated Mood Theme"). Then hit 'execute'.

Then you need to open the 'adminconsolecodes.txt' file that should be included in the mood theme's zip file.

Go Edit > Replace... and type '12345' into the 'Find What' box. Go back to the admin console page and copy and paste the 'mood theme ID' six digit number into the 'Replace With' box.

Click 'Replace All' and all the '12345's should change to '504050's.

Now do the same thing for your image host.
e.g. replace 'http://www.yourimagehost.com/' with 'http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk26/staceymackenzie91/'.

Once you've done that, highlight the entire document and copy and paste it into the admin console.

Click execute, and the mood theme should now be installed.

Phew! Hope my instructions made sense and were helpful :) If you have any further questions, just let me know :)
