Everyone tells her she is strong and independent. A good girl. A smart girl.

So she is having a hard time recognizing herself. Standing at his locker, books clasped across her chest. And hopeful - so hopeful.

Not hopeful that he will ask her out on a date. They are already dating.

Not hopeful that he will kiss her in the hallway.

Agreed. And why when we go through it do we not recognize that we AREN'T THE ONLY ONE TO EXPERIENCE IT?!

Here I sit at the age of 55 and wonder how different my life would be if I knew then what I know now.

But I learned from those mistakes and it made me the woman I am today, for better or worse.

I hate to say that I was pleased that so many people seemed to relate, but it sure made my high school self feel better. It's nice to know I wasn't alone in that experience. But I am sorry you had to go through it!
