you just have to have faith that it is all going to work out for the best in the end, he sounds like he really cares about you, it's just a matter of whether or not you're ready to take on and try to defeat whatever it is that makes you think you aren't capable having this sort of relationship -- because you are!
it could work, and if it didn't, at least you'd know that you didn't freak out and lose any chance at having a connection like that. it sounds like he's the kind of guy you grow around, and that he'd probably help you figure out a lot about yourself. that's an awesome connection to have...
i guess my advice is to just see what happens, especially if he's coming to michigan soon. but i, and i'm sure many others would agree, think that you need to give it a shot because he sounds like the risk.
