The problem I tend to have with "privilege" is that it's completely depending on EXTERNAL social reinforcement, but yet everyone wants to make it the INTERNAL persons responsibility.
Being aware of "privilege" and how one may use it or have it used towards them is nice...but not really the problem itself IMO.
Ive had this debate, both in person and on this LJ. Awareness is the first step, sort of like, in your toolkit of attributes you were born with, some are associated with higher status. I think that things that focus on one issue, like "you are white, therefore you always have privilage in any situation" are not as good as "there are things that you have that make you privilaged in some ways, and there are things you have that disadvantage you in some ways
