Author's Note: Hello again. This is the not-so-heavy drabble series to complement the other, longer, madder set I'm doing for this comm. Really, aside from the pairing, they have... very little in common. This is crossposted to my fic journal, silent_eden, and linked to there from rxl_fans. Also, this is woefully unbetaed, so please excuse any suckage that is in excess of the norm. Last and also least, if anyone is at all curious, while I was writing this I was picturing L in the process of making this cake.
It is 11:32 PM. Light is dozing at the kitchen table; L is making cake. The chain rattles contentedly between them.
At least someone's happy, Light thinks.
The cake seems to be progressing badly. Flour coats L's clothes and he's modeling an interesting interpretation of the frosted-hair look. Light doesn't think it will catch on.
"Do you need help?" he asks, grudgingly.
L blinks at him from beneath cream cheese bangs. "Help?"
"Help," Light confirms.
"Ah-- Thank you, but no."
"Ryuuzaki... you have frosting in your hair."
"It is not an obstruction."
Light shivers, disgusted.
(At 11:49, as Light snores, a grinning L rubs frosting into his suspect's shiny hair.)
