Outlaw - Champions of Kamigawa

Last night I was having trouble sleeping, so I picked up the first novel for this set of Magic. I put it down again at about 5am. They may not be very good, but I find them quite engaging.

For anyone who cares:

It's better than the Mirrodin cycle. The characters are a bit more interesting, and the general plot seems a -little- better than the ambling swathe of destruction that was the previous trilogy.

Also, the books paint a rather different picture to that displayed on the cards and the website. To look at the cards, you'd think that all the non-spirit races were united against all the kami. But in the book, this is far from the truth. In fact, only the white peoples, the kitsune and the emperor's kingdom, are at really at odds with all of their kami. Other attacks take place against the various sentient races, but these are rare, random, and usually achieve nothing. Also, some of the kami are working towards a non-violent solution, whereas they're portrayed in the cards as mindless and violent.

Anyway.
