I want to know....

I want to know why people seem to always focus on all the bad things? There are so many beautiful, wonderful, amazing things that are there. There's so much hope and there's so much life yet all so many people can see is the death and the despair. Life isn't a picture...a picture is static...it doesn't move. It isn't real. Honestly, it's boring( ( Read more... )

thanks for the inspiring message. i really like your photograph analogy. it reminded me of something i read once.... someone trying to describe what heaven is like. they compared the difference between this earth and heaven as a photo and reality... this earth, this life, being just a mere photograph of heaven, and heaven being the real thing. can you imagine anything more real than this! well, i guess you are talking about the same thing - the real earth that God made for us before it became tainted.

You're right, life isn't a photograph. The reason (I think) many people focus on the "bad" things is out of a desire to change them for the better. They realize that life isn't static, and they just want to do what they can to change life for society as a whole. The reason not too many people focus on the good things is because they don't want them to change. People simply enjoy the good things in their own lives. But publicly, they want to point out that despite living relatively wonderful lives, the world is still filled with disease, hatred, war, famine, and other such horrible things.

And then of course some people are just pessimists while others are optimists. The optimists can see the good as well as the potential for better, while the pessimists see mainly the bad and the potential for worse.

But you can focus on the good things and still change the bad ones. If all you see is the bad then you just become miserable yourself. I've seen that happen to so many people...and it's so sad. Cause they're missing out on so much.
