FUCK

Well fuck. I've just been given two months notice to move out my flat - only reason given is that it's "through reasons beyond [their] control." The office is closed now so I have to wait until Monday to speak to them.

I don't actually have all the money for deposits, moving costs etc.. so fuck.

Holy shit, and it was such a recent residence! Why would they do that? It doesn't make much sense.

My theory is that the landlord is selling the flat or something along those lines. Since the letting agent is just the middle man and it's not like the same person owns all the flats. But, I'm trying to book a viewing for somewhere else on Monday though trying to book it for 9am may have been ambitious since I don't know if they are open at the weekend, haha.

D: That sucks. Is 2 months your required notice cause if they're screwing you on that you could see about getting your deposit back now to use it for the new place or something?? Depending on how reasonable they are I guess. Moving is the worst- sorry!

I think it's only one month notice they have to give, so in that way I'm lucky. I hate moving :(

That really really sucks :( Something similar happened to me because the landlord had disappeared and stopped paying the mortgage so the flat was repossessed. I hope they will at least try to help you find somewhere else quickly.

Yeah, I don't know if it's that or the landlord just wants to sell. It's lame because I have such a good steal. I've seen flats in my building advertised for over a £100/month more and the only difference as far as I can tell is that there's a balcony.

Two months? Does that violate anything on your lease/rental agreement? Because that seems an awfully short amount of notice. I'm sorry, that sucks. :(

I don't think it does - I think the notice period is one month, though I don't know where my contract is to check. I am going to speak to them on Monday and request a copy of it.
