Been home sick for the last few days (nothing serious) and mainlining British mysteries on Netflix. Have decided that, far more than the sky-high number of murders they encounter, what punctures my suspension of disbelief about Rosemary and Thyme is the way that everywhere they go, whether inn or school or private home, someone just happens to have ( Read more... )

I have found rooms with twin beds very common in inns and hotels in Britain and Europe.

The other thing, though, with R&T rather than you and your mother, is that my grandmother and her fellow-widow friends travel together and think nothing of bunking in together for the night. Almost all of them were farm girls who shared beds with sisters until they married, so sharing a hotel bed with a friend is completely no big. I wouldn't think it would be that different for that generation across the pond, so I wouldn't think that having them share a double from time to time would be any big deal either. (So I wonder if their network is sexuality-paranoid or what?)

I'd guess they're just using the same set and redressing it, so getting a different bed would actually be more trouble?

Bletchley Circle is a LOT of fun though there's not that much of it yet. It is women code breakers after the ware, applying their math skills to catching criminals.

Not British, but if you find yourself looking for the next show to watch, I very much enjoyed Ms. Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

When we were in England for D'zenouve Convention, the bedroom we had gave us two single beds instead of the two twins we were expecting. That's apparently standard at many British hotels.
