In real life, no one talks of how things work
Until they break; the coffee's just a prop
To smoothly pass or fumble with a jerk,
To fill the silences when all words stop.
The broken yellow line is running on
As fine and smooth as though it weren't broken;
As though the road behind us weren't gone,
The road ahead still one of trust unspoken.
It's far too soon to speak, or else too late;
There's nothing we can change by saying so.
We have a place to get to that won't wait,
And time is short, as you and I both know.
The where's no more important than the how.
Don't slow things down with explanations now.
