ok i wrote a review of Mamaphonic: Balancing Motherhood and Other Creative Acts for my zine, but I also plan to send it out so PLEASE give me feedback. I am not at all confident in my reviewing skills.
i agree that it was a great collection, overall. you definitely picked out the highlights and did a great job with them. and i appreciated the 'quality took a backseat to diversity' bit...can you speak a bit more about that?
I only am conversant with academic review, but is it a little too AAM? I mean, a review supposed to be all about the shared audience -- yours and the book's. or something. ok.
i think i would frame it with other current writings, compare it to other works in the field, even briefly, it is too much of a love letter, did you have some criticism or analysis? also i would check it for cliches, anxiously awaiting, this book has a little bit of everything, automatic writing moments. why do you believe that this book is important and that motherhood and creativity is a subject that deserves a book?
