Thats means I have to set up a phone line correct. I wasn't planning to have one since I really only use the cell. I can't just plug cords into the wall right?

Ah. From things I've read, you need initially setup the TiVo on a phone line. Try taking it to a friend's house with a landline and trying it from there.

Once that's setup, you'll have some breathing room from which to connect to the apartment complex's wireless. Although, having to connect via username and password is not something I've had to do with the TiVo, so you might be SOL.

Nope, you haven't needed a phone line with TiVo for a couple of years now. You can set them up on the network.

Wait, you got a wireless router, or do you mean a WiFi USB adapter for the TiVo?

The username/password thing concerns me. It sounds like there is some proprietary login to get on their WiFi network, and the TiVo won't do that. If someone else in the apartment complex has TiVo working talking to them is probably the best route. It sounds like the ISP is atypical.
