Apparently, I have personality

1. Name: Devin

2. Age: 30

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Ireland calls to me. It's the homeland of my father, and the ancestral home of my mother's family. I went there once when I was nine...and I've never been the same since. I don't just want to live there, I need to live there.

4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
Probably a combination study/game room, with a comfortable desk and chair, plenty of books, parchment, quills and ink, but also a game-playing table with a lot of chairs for my friends. Having a fireplace and a good view of the grounds would be great too.

5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
*grin* Well, my inner H/G shipper would say Dean Thomas, but that's not fair, because he's an okay as a person, from what little we've learned of him. While it's tempting to choose a despicable character (Snape, Umbridge, Wormtail), the truth is I've enjoyed reading of them, even if I don't like them. I'll also shy away from choosing the non-characters of Susan Bones, Hannah Abbott, Terry Boot, etc. No, of all the prominent characters, the one I don't like reading about at all would have to be Draco Malfoy. I despise bullies (Dudley is a close second).

6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Half empty. I've always hated this question, because while my instinct is to say half empty, I don't consider myself a pessimist--I'm usually fairly positive in my outlook.

7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
"To be, or not to be...that is the question!" This isn't in terms of suicide like Hamlet is asking--for me personally it's more about choosing to fulfil my potential or acquiesce to a lesser life. I always strive for the former, but sometimes I fail and succumb to the latter--for a time, anyway.

8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
Family, but friends can become as family to me. I married my best friend, so that's a reality that a friend became family. I don't have many close friends, but those I do I value highly.

9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
The summer I spent in Ireland. I loved the Atlantic coast, and I loved walking on the Giant's Causeway, and visiting the ruins, and meeting my extended family.

10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
*grin* I have so many flaws, it's hard to choose! Odd as it may sound, I think it's when I do things casually--I can be casually dishonest, casually irresponsible, etc. When it really matters, I do the right thing and step up, but when it doesn't matter, I toy with things.

11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Absolutely. Learning to defend yourself is important. Opposing Umbridge is just the icing on the cake. :)

12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
There are different types of 'difficult or stressful situations'. For ones that get me upset, I tend to shut up and seethe, until I'm provoked too far and then I lash out. For dangerous situations, I simply react.

13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Oh, that's a tough one, but in the end, I'd say justice. Compassion ranks high on my scale, but justice is higher. For example, I wouldn't have been distressed in the slightest if the centaurs had killed Umbridge. Even if Snape turns out to be on the side of the angels (having been forced to kill DD due to the Vow and/or the Ultimate Plan of DD), I still hope that he gets his, and that Harry is the one to do it. That being said, though I despise Draco, I feel some measure of compassion for him...but not a lot (his attempts on DD did result in nearly fatal attacks on Katie Bell and Ron Weasley, after all). The world isn't black and white, but there is still right and wrong. I could be convinced that Snape had no choice but to kill Dumbledore, but nothing could convince me that Snape had to be cruel to Harry all these years.

14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
Child at heart. Peter Pan had it right. :P

15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Gryffindor, but also potentially Ravenclaw. I've got guts when it matters, but (and I know this seems like I'm boasting) I am also fairly intelligent (I tend to score high on IQ tests). I would prefer Gryffindor, because I think that would suit my nature, whereas Ravenclaw just caters to my abilities.

16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
Sorry, no pic of me.
