1. Name: Vanessa, but my close friends call me variants of 'Ness' and 'Nessa'.
2. Age: 18.
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
America in one of the stereotypical neighbourhoods that are portrayed on television I've always wanted to go to school in America, it has always looked so appealing on television. I realise that it may not be all brightly coloured halls and stairways and such but there's something about Middle School and High School that's always intrigued me.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
Interesting. That's something within the Harry universe that I haven't given much thought to before. It would have to be full of books, for sure, always new and different ones, I'm always up for a good romance book, though I don't tend to let on that fact to those I know. I'm not one of those people who tends to share their feelings outright with people.
My room would have lots of large cushions that I could spend my time reading my guilty pleasure books and a mini bar fridge filled with peppermint chocolate and lemonade.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
Probably Snape -- sorry, Professor Snape -- due to the fact that he just seems to me to be seen as nasty and I can't find anything in him that screams "nice person" I'm willing to admit that I probably misunderstand his character, but Snape isn't one of the Harry Potter characters that I enjoy reading about. Unless of course he is being mistreated by the Marauders...
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Half full. If there's liquid in there, it's full. I'm logical like that but refuse to debate the matter with people, because I know most people have varying opinions on the matter and frankly, to me, it's not one of the more pressing matters in the world to worry about.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
"We learnt everything we needed to know in kindergarten, boys are stupid."
For some reason this is a quote that's always amused me. I can picture myself as a child, thinking how irritating and annoying and 'oh-so-immature' boys used to be. Of course, this shows that I'm not entirely ready to grow up myself since I still find it amusing. At least, that's what I happen to think.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
This is a difficult question. I'd say family though as my family only consists of my mother and I. We're the closest we could possibly be and I don't hesitate to tell her anything. Whilst she plays the role of being my closest confidant, she is also my mother through and through. I don't know where I'd be today without the love and support that my mother has given me.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Sitting in the front yard of our house on a tractor tyre inner tube sitting on anothe one, riding it like a horse. It's hard to explain, I have a picure but sadly don't own a scanner. This was one of the memories I have of being carefree and not worrying how other people perceived me. (I was sitting on a tyre, pretending it was a horse.) I'd never do that now. It reminds me of being free and having much more of an imagination than I have now.
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
Being a trusting/caring person. That in itself isn't a bad thing, it's the fact that I seem to be one of those people who likes to try to fit in with others and I will then do most anything anyone asks of me in the hopes of getting the same respect in return. In leu of this I have managed to get myself hurt many times. I trust rather easily, in the hopes that I can make steady friendships. I have been disappointed many times over the years yet I continue to do my best to be the nicest person I can, even though I find I am walked over many times.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
I like to think that I would have. I couldn't think of anything better than sticking it to Umbridge and getting top marks in Defence. I'm a very competitive person, and could just see the smirk on my face if I was the first to conjure a Patronus, or to reduce objects to dust using the reductor curse.
Despite being competitive like this, I don't like to let on how pleased I am if I beat my friends at tests and such, though I'm good at remembering to myself how much better than them I did, even if it was only by a mark or two.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
I lose my head. Take yesterday for example: I was placed in a situation that I didn't want to be in and had been dreading for a very long time. We had to hand a form in to some people. It was a tear off form, I was irritated and I tore my form in half, and in dramatic fashion said "I don't want to be here," and walked out of the room, throwing the offending form in the air.
I tend to act first and think later. I usually regret my decisions later, especially yesterday when I had to walk back into a room full of about 200 people. Thankfully they were too busy to notice...
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Compassion. I like to see people standing up for what they believe in and making a stand and stating their opinion, despite what others may think.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
A child definitely. I don't want to grow up which I think is sometimes apparent in the way that I act, what with getting noticable upset over things I have no control over, and wishing that I don't have to go out into 'the big wide world' next year. I've just finished my last year of school and am about to embark on further education, a adventure that I am terrified about. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to take responsibility and grow up, even though I know I'm capable of it.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Ravenclaw, though I know I'd like to belong to Gryffindor, though I don't think I'm very brave at all. Ravenclaw because I study a lot and strive to do the best that I can and to help others do the best that they can.
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
I don't have a picture at present, though I can tell you that I'm a plain looking sort of person. I have long blonde hair, green eyes and the tendancy not to show what I'm feeling via my facial features. For example, I could be having the time of my life and people will ask 'What's wrong?'
