this is exciting.

1. Name: Kate

2. Age: 16

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? I honestly have no idea. When I was younger I always wanted to live in London, but now I think I could make myself happy anywhere that’s not suburbia - I’ve always gone by the whole “there’s the city and the country and everything else is a wasteland” type of attitude. So maybe New York City, Chicago, Montreal, or London, or upstate NY, or Colorado, or Vermont, or Siberia? I couldn’t pick a specific place.

4. What would your Room of Requirement look like? Old architecture room lined with book shelves filled with all of my favorites and books I would love to read. And with those little wind-y spiral staircases to get to books. And the rolling ladders. And really plushy chairs and an amazing view.

5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character? Colin Creevy. Oh my God, I just wanted to burn every page with his name on it. So irritating. Not even remotely interesting to read about.

6. Is the glass half empty or half full? Half full, and with chocolate milk in it.

7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
Are you still so afraid?…
But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you an just get old…
Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook
And disappear for a while
It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two

This entire song has always served as a kind of reminder for me - about how I just need to step back and think about the good things I have as opposed to what I don’t, about how I have to slow down sometimes instead of stressing over things that haven’t even happened yet, about how there’s a time for everything and it’ll all work out in the end. I used to be so uptight before I heard this song.

8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends? I guess family, but kind of only by default. I love my family, even though I don’t feel like they really know me very well. What I mean is they know me, but only by what I like and dislike, and they make of that what they will. They’re very overbearing at times but I do love them. When I say by default, though, I’m saying that I don’t have any really great friends that I can put before my family. I have plenty of friends, and a few good friends, but no real best friends who I believe without a doubt would do anything for and would do the same in return. So yeah. Family.

9. What is your favorite childhood memory? Being in Disney when I was six or seven. The part I remember most is skipping up to this Pocahontas show with my younger sister, and feeling completely happy.

10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?I lie too much. In person, that is, not on LJ. Not so much lie, actually, more I stretch the truth. I can’t help it. And I’m good at it, too, which makes it harder to stop. But with people I consider myself close to, I’ve stopped doing it, which I guess is a step in the right direction.

11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.? Yes. I doubt it would have been because of Harry, though, it would have been out of pure hatred for Umbridge. She’s just the type of teacher I loathe and I’d jump at the chance to do something to dent her power. I’m also sure I would have gotten a detention or two for talking back or something, because I can never help myself around people like her.

12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations. Take a step back and analyze the situation. If I can put off facing it, mostly I do, but only long enough for me to collect myself and get situated. If I can’t get around it I suck it up and face whatever it is. I’ve always been good with dealing with stress, for the most part. I don’t get stressed in pressure situations like public speaking or serving for volleyball or whatever.

13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice? Compassion. Everyone has the ability to be compassionate, and the world would be a much better place if every single person acted on that ability. I also think that with compassion comes justice, so it would end up being a two for the price of one type of deal. Because if you’re a good and honest person, and you do the best you can, and you’re compassionate towards others, etc. etc., things will all work out in the end - there will be justice, even if you can’t see it.

14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul? Child at heart. I (like to think I) am mature for my age, and I see past all the trappings of teenager-dom, but in the end I still love a good fairy tale or running around outside or sneaking bits of cookie dough before my mom bakes it.

15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in? Well, every quiz I’ve ever taken has placed me in Slytherin. And while some of my answers here seem to be leaning away from that direction, I have to say I agree with that placement. I like Slytherin. I like to think I am cunning, I am ambitious - I want to write a bestseller and travel the world - and I can always be sneaky when need be. Plus green looks a lot better on me than red or yellow or blue since it brings out my eyes.

16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
