1. Name: Lin, Lina, Girl-Over-There, whatever - Miss Chang from Incarcerous. :D
2. Age: 15
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Hm. Hard question. Somewhere in Europe, I think, but I love travelling and I wouldn't be able to just stay in one city. Maybe Shanghai, I always fall in love with the city whenever I go back. It's like any large city with a rich history, really, because in some respects it's so modernized and you can literally find anything there, but it's also very in touch with tradition. There are also plenty of opportunities (job and location-wise, that is) in Shanghai, so it works out.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
Books, air-conditioning, music (all kinds), chocolates. Internet, too, if the Room would allow it. I love reading, but I can't really stand those stuffy libraries with the heat on nine months out of twelve. Music and chocolates round out the nice material things in the world.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
It was going to be Wormtail, but I'll say Cornelius Fudge. He's like the epitome of ignorance and ineptitude, and he represents much of what is wrong with leadership these days. Refusal to believe the truth in face of evidence - no matter how strong your convictions are - really irks me.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
It depends on the situation. Are you the one pouring or are you the one drinking, and what's in the glass? Most of the time, probably half empty.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
Something that represents my situation right now - "What you just said about the circle. It isn't a circle-it is simply a long line-as in geometry, you know, one that reaches into infinity. And because we cannot see the end-we also cannot see how it changes." - Asagai in "A Raisin in the Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry. Sometimes I feel like my life - or maybe life in general - is just going in circles, but I guess it's more realistically a line with many loops.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
Hard one, but friends. I'm not really close with my immediate family, because they're not really always around, so it's always been my friends who have been there for me.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
I spent the summer before my second grade at my grandmother's apartments in Shanghai, and it was really the best, best experience of my entire life as of now. She was a really great person, very loving and very wise, and the entire stay was just so brilliant. It was just her and me, so those two months were really memorable.
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
Pride. I can be arrogant and condescending, if someone ticks me off enough (I'm usually very hard to anger, though, so this part isn't the biggest part of the flaw); I'm good at things and I know it. I won't bother with false modesty if I can get things done the same way. For example, my classmates will spend hours studying for a test, but I'll refuse to do the same. Deep down inside, I value skill over effort. This also leads me to be argumentative and stubborn, but those are... sub-flaws.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Not for the first few meetings, because I wouldn't want to get in trouble. But after a few had passed without incident, definitely.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
I prioritize; I usually don't have a problem with getting things done, since I don't like procrastinating, so difficult or stressful would usually be emotional-wise. In that case I try to work things out, talk to people and help them (or me, depending on the situation) figure what's going on. Most people tell me I work better under stress.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Justice, but I'm not an absolutist person. I'm more likely to be 'judicial' towards my friends than those I don't know well, because emotions cloud decisions; clear-headed logic is usually the best way to go.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
Old soul. Among my circle of friends, I'm probably a Remus equivalent - an organizer (whether of 'talks' or birthday surprises) and a responsible type. Seriously, my friend's mom saw her talking online at two o'clock in the morning and was about to tell her off, but when she saw it was me, her mom was all, "Oh, it's Lin! That's okay, then. She's such a good influence." It was the weirdest thing ever.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Ravenclaw. Or Slytherin, maybe.
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
First one taken when an online friend wanted to see how long my hair was; second was part of a photo class a friend took.
