1. Name: Laura

2. Age: 20 - coming up for 21

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? I’ve lived in my New Zealand all of my life and I love it, but I definitely have the travel bug! I’ve always wanted to live in London or Paris, so I’d probably say London. I love the history and the culture. And the shopping! And the accents. But, I’m a hopeless romantic and I know that I have an idealized picture of it, so maybe it would be better just to take extended holidays there! I have a feeling that the reality of London living, with depressing weather, crime, pollution and heavy traffic just like any other city, would completely crush my little dreams!

4. What would your Room of Requirement look like? Ooh, good question. It would be outside - probably a gorgeous garden. Sun shining, birds singing, the whole bit. And a lake somewhere. Minus the Giant Squid.

5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character? That’s actually really tough! I like aspects of all the characters; even the evil ones have personality! I’m not overly fond of Cho Chang - partly because she got in the way of my favourite ship for awhile, I’ll admit it! - but also because I think she’s a pretty weak character essentially. And I really dislike Petunia Dursley. Her husband is awful, as well, but she had less excuse for her behaviour. She mistreated a child under her protection, who was her own sister’s baby, and if she’d had any strength in her at all, she would have stood up to Vernon and done the right thing by Harry.

6. Is the glass half empty or half full? *hides* It’s half-empty. I may be a romantic, but I’m also a pessimist! I tend to think that if you expect the worse, you won’t be disappointed. And you might get a nice surprise. But, despite that dismal view of things, I do believe in the power of hope and faith, so maybe I’m not a completely lost cause.

7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality. “Still waters run deep.” I was not impressed when a primary school teacher said that about me because I’ve always been a bit shy, but I would like to believe that some people have underestimated me. And I hope to justify the faith that some others have always had in me.

8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends? My family. I love my friends and if they ever need me, I’ll be there, no questions asked. But my family means everything to me. They’re the only people I know I can count on for unconditional support.

9. What is your favorite childhood memory? Summers spent at our holiday home by the lake, with the whole extended family. We’re extremely close, and my brother, my cousins and I are stair-step in ages, so we often had a blast. And were completely spoilt by our grandparents.

10. What would you say is your biggest flaw? I’m not a very patient person. I tend to get an idea about something, and I want it to happen now. I also procrastinate like crazy. And I admit that while I will work for my achievements, I often think it would be nice to just have them handed to me! :)

11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.? Yes, absolutely. I couldn’t sit around and do nothing. I’d have to feel like I was at least a little prepared, and able to try to protect myself and others.

12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations. I whinge a bit, but manage to get through it at the time, and then I fall apart later. I’m the sort of person who’ll go over and over things after the fact, wondering what I should have done differently.

13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice? I think justice is a highly debatable term, and seems to change in each different situation. Compassion can be dangerous, if it leads to other people getting later, but it’s also extremely important. Life really is too short to be a bitch - and that’s not how you want to be remembered!

14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul? A child, I think. I’m a daydreamer and I have a good imagination. I think everybody needs a fantasy life to escape from how shitty real life can get sometimes.

15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in? I’ve thought about it before, and I really don’t know. Any except Ravenclaw is a possibility! My grades are important to me, but I see studying as a chore, and I’m not at all organized. I have certain qualities, like ambition and loyalty, which would fit in different houses. Overall, I’d guess Hufflepuff.

16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun! I think the only pic of me saved on this computer is a baby pic, and I’m really not sure I want that to get out! I plan to hide it, in case people get embarrassing ideas for birthdays!
