1. Name: Karen
2. Age: 23
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose? If it didn't happen to be so cold up there, I think I'd choose Boston. My favorite cousin lives up there, it's still close to the sea (something I couldn't live without), and from what I hear, it has lots of wonderful spots. Plus, there is a great Jewish area - my culture is important to me, and I could never live in a place without a good Jewish deli. :)
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like? It would be the ultimate room of relaxation for me, a place for me to wind down after a long, hard day. One of my dreams is to have a beach house, with the traditional look - white walls, pastels, huge windows, vintage furniture, a nice sofa, a huge bed.... that's what I'd want. I'd love the room to have a huge bookshelf, filled with all of my favorite books, as well as all the books I'd love to read. And well, not that it'd work at Hogwarts, but an HDTV with a TiVo and satellite connection and an iMac with an ethernet connection wouldn't be so bad, either!
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character? Wormtail, definitely. He betrayed the sacred trust of his friends, and that is unforgivable in my eyes.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full? Oddly enough, I've never really thought about it... it's just... half. I don't know if this means I'm an optimist or pessimist. I just don't really see positivity or negativity in terms of a glass of water.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality. Albert Einstein once said, "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious." This is such a true statement! The joy or awe we can feel when experiencing something new, that was previously a mystery to us, can truly be amazing. For example, learning of a talent that I never thought I had was a real eye-opening, wonderful experience.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends? Family, hands down. It's not that I don't love my friends, because I do; but I could only see myself sacrificing my own life for my family members.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory? There are so many memories that stick out, but I'd have to say that my favorite is a trip that I took in high school to Europe with my family. We visited Israel, Egypt, Greece, Cyprus, and Italy. It is one of my most favorite and unique vacations, and it will always stand out in my memory as an amazing experience where I was able to see things (like the Pyramids and Mount Masada) that I had only previously just read about and seen photos of in textbooks. I never expected to see them in person, let alone go inside a pyramid or stand on top of Masada, and I don't know if it will ever happen again. That is why it is my favorite memory.
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw? I can be very lazy, and I would have to say that this is my biggest flaw, as it leads to massive procrastination. My husband always gets upset with me for not doing things when I said I would because I get really lazy and put things off.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.? I think so - it's always a good idea to learn how to defend yourself, and even if I didn't choose to go on Harry's adventures, I would want to be prepared if I was in a dangerous situation.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations. I think that I react very well. I may have quiet breakdowns on my own, but in front of others, I stay stolid, act confident and strong, and don't let anyone know how difficult I feel the situation is.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice? While I can be a very compassionate person, I do highly value justice - the law is the law, rules are rules, and they should be followed. Of course, there are exceptions sometimes, but I primarily value justice over compassion.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul? This is a weird question for me to answer. I personally wish I could stay a teenager. I hate having responsibilities - I would love to be able to delegate them to someone else, have someone else take care of everything. I think I need my own house elf! At the same time, I feel like an old lady sometimes since I can be quite crotchety - all joking aside, friends have often valued my advice, and I have had others praise my maturity and tell me that I have an old soul.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in? Honestly, I don't know. I've been sorted as a Slytherin and a Gryffindor in two different communities, and I consider myself to have valid traits from both. I guess we'll never know!
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
