1. Name: Joy (named after my grandmother) - I pretty much live up to it. ;)

2. Age: 23 (24 on February 14)

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Mexico. It's where I spent a few years of my childhood and where I chose to return after college. I even tried moving back to the States for a few years to finish my masters and I only lasted 3 months before hopping on the next plane back here. :P

4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
It would be filled with my friends and family - they are definitely what I need the most. Although it is very possible that my RoR could sometimes be filled with chocolate or a whole lot of library books...

5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
Umbridge. As a teacher, I hate how she treats her students. It's appalling and her discipline methods are complete child abuse. Snape is a close second in my mind, especially with how he treats Neville. I don't care if he's good or bad or how much he hated so-and-so's parents - I can't excuse a teacher who humiliates his/her students, no matter what the reasons.

6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Definitely half full. Your attitude towards life makes all the difference.

7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained." - The Sword in the Stone
"Weird people live longer." - My best friend Laura

My best friend and I adopted these mottos when we were ten and they've been with us ever since. There wasn't much that we wouldn't try at least once (and get into MAJOR trouble), and we've always believed that being normal is boring and being weird is so much better. I want to live my life to the fullest.

8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
Family - they're always there for me and I know I can count on them 100%. My parents are my pillars of support and have carried me through so much in my life.

9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Pool parties in our backyard with the kids from the neighborhood. My mom would float around on one of those lounge-chair-float-things and my dad would do cannonballs off the side. My brother and his friends would dive for those plastic rings for hours while my friends and I would pretend that we (and our Barbies) were mermaids.

10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
I can't tell people "no". I somehow manage to get roped into "volunteering" for things I don't want to do just because I don't want to hurt the person's feelings. It's rather annoying, actually. And it's usually my Mom who talks me into doing things. :P

11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Totally. I would be somewhat worried that we would get in trouble, but the DA would be an important enough thing for me to join in willingly. And I definitely wouldn't run and tattle on the group. Sheesh.

12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
I usually cry. A lot. (Even when I get mad I end up crying after I finish yelling.) Then I have to talk it out - usually with my parents or best friends - it helps me to vent to someone who will help me sort out my thoughts.

13. Which do you value more:
Compassion - I think the way we treat other people when they are at their lowest point is a true test of our character.

14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
Very much a child. I am very trusting, I love to play and be silly, and I don't like to worry about adult things if I don't have to. Granted, I can be responsible when I need to, but even as a teacher I love to play and have fun with my students whenever possible... and none of them can beat me at Uno. ;)

15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Probably either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. For the usual reasons.

16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!

Camping at the beach last weekend. :)

With my second graders - I'm the tallest for once.

The bowling ball I've had since I was 10. It says a lot about me.
