1. Name:

Lizabethy

2. Age:

25

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

I love the US, but I have always wanted to live in an English-speaking foreign country. Ireland is beautiful and has been the birthplace (and inspiration of) countless writers I admire. The expense, however, drives me closer to living in Australia, a long-held dream of mine. It's not just the accents (though they are quite lovely, right up there with Irish accents), it's also the culture. It's far more laid back, as free as the US without the political stigma (ok, not as much) and recent trend of conservatism, and...well...I like koalas.

Within the US, I'll go with Florida. I'm very interested in the Master's degree program at a couple of their schools. (Yes, I am this boring.)

4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?

Three walls of books and one wall of glass that shows alternating nature scenes, a writing desk (quill and parchment included), a huge purple chair with several extra cushions, a rainbow of floor pillows, the night sky as my ceiling, a kitten, a self-cleaning litter box, a never-ending supply of mocha latte, an enormous cushy feather bed, and slipper socks. Ah. I would never leave.

5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?

I'm halfway afraid to answer this; I suspect I will get hexes from all directions. I would have to say Cho Chang, simply because of the shallow, semi-empty-headedness.

6. Is the glass half empty or half full?

Halfway to the top. I tend toward optimism rather than pessimism, but I'm much more of a realist than anything else. I look at the glass from all angles, tip it, research the liquid inside, and determine--based on the size of the glass and the contents--an approximate measure based on those factors and any other I determine are applicable.

7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.

Here is my favorite e.e. cumming poem, which is quoted in my default icon. I would type it out here, but a lot of the fun is in the form. It's a celebration of innocence, among other things.

8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?

Family, but I consider several of my friends as part of that family. I've never subscribed to the old adage that blood is thicker than water. Half of my family (including my dad) are steps.

9. What is your favorite childhood memory?

I have pictures of my family hanging out on a normal day, gathered at my grandparents celebrating a new rug. It started with a picture of my grandmother posing with my sister on the rug. This escalated into a "sexy granny" shot wherein my fifty-five-year-old (at the time) granny revealed a bit of leg and threw her head back with a come hither smile, which led to a series of "glamour" shots of all the women, then the men goofing off. All on this brand new (unspectacular) rug that still covers the floor in my granny's bedroom.

10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?

Pride. Definitely. I have a very hard time admitting when I'm wrong--of course, that rarely happens. *cough*

11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?

Absolutely. I would jump at the chance to learn, particularly if I suspect my survival as an adult would depend on what I learn.

12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.

I usually try to break the problem down into managable pieces and deal with it gradually. If that's impossible, I put off dealing with it until I absolutely have to, and then grit my teeth and try to fix everything when I absolutely have to deal with it.

13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?

That's a hard choice. Compassionate justice? I believe in justice whole-heartedly, but there can be no justice without compassion in many cases. Some people confuse compassion with a bleeding heart.

14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?

At the risk of sounding wishy washy: a little of both. I'm far too naive about some things to be considered a cynic, but I have understood adult concepts since I was very young. I am extraordinarily goofy at times, and yet I prioritize and know what I want out of life. I certainly think it's possible to be both; look at Dumbledore.

15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?

I've always thought I'm a cross between a Hufflepuff and a Ravenclaw. I am extremely loyal, I'm a very hard worker, I love knowledge, etc. I'm also proud and I like to think I'm brave. And I can be manipulative at times. Perhaps the hat would burst into flames with indecision (or out of frustration with my indecision).

16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!

Why not? One very close-up pic of me is in my icon, along with my boyfriend. Another (quite bright) pic of me is here. Let me know if this link doesn't work.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to the responses. :)
