1. Name: May
2. Age: 16
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
St. Louis, MO, which is where I have lived all my life. It’s nice to travel, but I know this place like the back of my hand. The streets, the weather, the food, the air - it's home. I wouldn’t want to actually live anywhere else. Long vacations are another story. I think it would be wonderful to spend a year or so in a place like New Zealand.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
It would be a large, comfortable room (with a large, comfortable bed) that I could relax in. Sleep sounds nice :) Soothing music would be playing in the backround and the room would be set at the perfect temperature.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
I don’t have one. Each has his own good and bad characteristics, and they’re all such a joy to read. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t like one, because I enjoy reading about each character (yes, even Umbridge!)
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
I’m optimistic in everything that I do, but I never convince myself that I will succeed. I’m a worrier to the extreme, and I can be highly pessimistic when it comes to outcomes. I believe that you have to put up a good fight and what will happen will happen. There’s nothing you can do about that… some things just aren’t meant to be. But you better believe that I will fight to the death for what I believe in.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
I am in love with J.R.R. Tolkien’s term eucatastrophe - “a sudden happy turn, a sudden glimpse of truth.” It’s my mantra. I firmly believe that things will turn out for the better. It just takes time.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
Both. Let’s face it, friends (the real ones) are family. In any case, friends and family are just people who love you and stick with you, and that’s enough to be respected. Anyone who is on your side and shares your beliefs should be put first.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
The memory of my father, who died three years ago. I hurts me to think that he’s just a memory now. I miss him.
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
I worry too much, and sometimes it’s enough to drive me crazy. My mind is always reeling. I try to fix things that I can’t control.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Yes. The DA was one of my favorite aspects of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It’s such a wonderful example of house unity and companionship. I would have definitely wanted to be a part of that experience, especially when the DADA teacher wasn’t doing her job properly.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
I do well under pressure. The stress and worry that I experience usually push me to try and solve the problems I am facing. I feel a strange exhilaration when I’m faced with those types of situations.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Justice. Compassion is a personal opinion, but justice is what’s right. A person must get what they deserve. Take Voldemort for example. You could sit down and think about what a terrible childhood he had, and the microscopic possibility that there might still be some good in him... or you can look at the choices he’s making now. Those are the choices that are affecting innocent people, and those people deserve justice.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
I have an old soul. I’m constantly observing at my peers and thinking “are you kidding me?” They’re trying to act so grown up and the result is just ridiculous. I’m not saying that I don’t have a good time, because I do. I just look at things in a different way. I ignore trends and fads and what have you, because I don’t see the point in them. Also, I try not to be completely obnoxious like most people my age (well, my friends anyway). Teenagers wonder why adults judge them, and I feel like the answer is right in front of our faces. I tend to get a lot of respect from adults because I do not rebel, which seems to be increasingly popular among my age group.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in? At
hogwarts_elite I was sorted to Slytherin, but I’ve been told that I would be an excellent Gryffindor. I’m definitely not a Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff? Maybe. But I’ve been with
hogwarts_elite for over a year now and I feel like Slytherin is a good fit.
