1. Name: Maureen, but I think the only person who actually calls me that is my grandma, to everyone else I am Molly.
2. Age: 16
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
I live currently in Seattle, Washington, so for me I have always wanted to live on the east coast of the United States. I have that whole stereotypical image of continual autumn in my head when I think about places like Connecticut or Massachusetts. Also, I think a living in Madrid, Spain would be absolutely perfect. I'm not a fan of being overly warm, but I'd get to appreciate the culture and language a lot more.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
I can picture the perfect reading room. Big squishy couches and chairs, a picturesque fire burning, monstrous bookshelves as far as the eye can see, mounds of pillows and blankets, a snack table, and of course, perfect reading light. I think I could burrow there quite happily.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
This is hard for me, because JKR writes some characters, like Lucius, Bellatrix, and various others, so that you can't help but dislike them when you first read about them. But I've come to appreciate the utter coolness of those characters that were created to be hated. Take Umbridge, for example. Like just about every other person, I hated her when I read the fifth book, thought she was incredibly mean and annoying. However, looking back, she was probably the teacher with the greatest influence on the trio, except for Lupin, because she forced them to take their education into their own hands and form the D.A. So, in short, I can see the good and bad of most characters.
But, if I had to choose one character that I would crucio without a moments hesitation, it would be Peter Pettigrew. That little...well, rat betrayed everyone he cared about, and while I think his duplicity can be compared even against that of the great Severus Snape, something about Pettigrew just rubs me the wrong way.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Ah yes, one of life's eternal questions. So if I answer half empty, I am a pessimist, and if I say half full, optimism is what I exude. So, which is it? Well, I have always referred to the glass as being half empty, so that makes me pessimistic, no? While I don't exactly consider myself so, I am told I often give off that impression.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
I've got some song lyrics and such, but I don't want to freak anyone out, so I'll go with a nice safe quote from Lennon.
"Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans." - John Lennon
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
A mixture of both - I consider my closest friends part of my family, and I consider my brother my best friend. So either way, I am putting those who love and support me first.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
There was the time that my siblings and I found a magical wardrobe and it transported us to another world...or that year I spent in Middle Earth...perhaps even the day I got my Hogwarts letter...then there was the time my ship was attacked by pirates...or when I eventually fell in love with Mr. Darcy. I suppose my favorite childhood memory is reading every book within my grasp. There was a stretch when I was 8 or 9 where I didn't watch TV for a couple months, all I did was sit in my room and read. I guess that is kind of sad, now that I look back on it...
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
I am extremely shy. It's gotten to the point where it is almost incapacitating. I can't walk up to someone I don't know, and sometimes people I do actually know, and just start a conversation. It is extremely frustrating, but I can't seem to get past it.
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry's fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Most definitely yes. I feel like they learned so much more in actual practice than they ever would have with Professor Umbridge (see my notes above on the subject). I also think DADA would have been a favorite subject of mine, so there you have it.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
Stress basically runs my life, so I guess without a sufficient way to deal with it, I would be lost. At first I like to take a step back, stop whatever I am doing that is putting so much strain on my life, and look at it with a different perspective. Try to solve whatever the problem is, and if that doesn't work, then I resort to some quiet activity, something to calm me down. Reading, writing, listening to music, anything works, just as long as it keeps my mind busy and off the item that is ruining my peace.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Justice. I tend to lean more on the moral side of decisions, and that is my Catholic upbringing shining though.
14. Would you say that you're a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
I have an old soul. Maturity has devoured the child within me, replaced the toys and the games with college applications and paying for gas and other expenses that normal teenagers incur.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
First, there is the house that I would want to be in, Gryffindor, and while I would like to think I could possess courage when need be, like Neville, I probably don't have enough of it to scrape a Gryffindor sorting. Most likely I'd be in Ravenclaw, because of my studious nature, or perhaps even Slytherin. Everyone has an evil side, some show theirs or choose to have it on display, while others cannot help it.
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
Well, this here is my school picture for this year. Tada!
