How exciting!

1. Name: Taryn

2. Age: 20

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

I truly cannot decide between New York City and London. I’ve always been enamored with these cities, and I’ve been drawn towards them since I was a child. I’m attracted to both because of the architecture, as well as the culture and the differing ways of life. I’ve always been a city girl, and I love anything to do with beautiful city skylines, lights, and constant action. They both have their positive and negative qualities, but I cannot for the life of me sort them out enough and separate them from one another to choose between the two.

4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?

First of all, it would have all the notebooks and pens that I would ever need to last me a lifetime, as well as all my best music. The colours of the room would be dark reds and blacks and browns, and there would be a fountain for tranquility because these things help me to write. Also, if there was a window, it would always be raining outside because I find that type of weather most inspiring and beautiful.

5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?

My least favourite character would probably be Rufus Scrimgeour. This could be because he’s new, and relatively underdeveloped. It could also be because of his obvious rudeness in regards to the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore. Whichever it is, I found him to be completely boring and useless, and he could have contributed much more to the story, but he didn’t.

6. Is the glass half empty or half full?

I always see the glass as being half empty, simply because it starts off full, and goes down from there. I wouldn’t say it’s a pessimistic point of view so much as a logical one. If, say, the glass had only been filled half way to begin with, well, then it would be half full, wouldn’t it?

7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.

“Your talents for use were made; what’s a sundial in the shade?” has been my favourite quote since I was about eleven years old. I’ve lived by this quote, and I share it with others as often as I can because I think that it is dead useful advice. I’m not a religious person, but you cannot deny the religious connotations. Why waste your God-given talents? You were given your talents and strengths for a reason, so use them to your fullest abilities. Myself, I love writing, whether it be fiction, poetry, or essays. I use it both to my advantage, as well as for entertainment (for myself and others). I put this talent to use pretty much every day of my life, which is a satisfying feeling.

8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?

As much as I’d like to say my family, my friends come first with me. They are my family, and I’ve gotten more support from my best friend in the 7 years that I’ve known her than I have from my family in my whole life. Unfortunately, I come from a family that has never been around a lot, and when they are here, they aren’t very expressive. I feel that my friends also are much more understanding and sympathetic to my situations because they are experiencing them with me, and my parents have never come close to some of the situations I’ve been in.

9. What is your favorite childhood memory?

My favourite childhood memory is rollerskating with my Grandmama when I was five. She bought me a pair, and another for herself, and neither of us knew what we were doing and we had such a hard time balancing. We tried to skate around the parking lot of her apartment complex, but succeeded only in clutching each others arms in an attempt to stay upright, and nearly wetting ourselves laughing. It was the best time I ever had on those skates, even when I got much better at balancing myself.

10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?

My biggest flaw is, without a doubt, my passiveness. I let people walk all over me, and I have a hard time standing up for myself. I’m a people pleaser by nature, and I hate the feeling I get when I put someone down, or I hurt their feelings. I do everything in my power to make others happy before myself, and I recognize this as a major - detrimental, even - flaw in my character.

11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?

I would have absolutely joined the D.A. It was rebellion in the name of education and self-defense, and I think that they were completely right in starting the group. Also, I think Umbridge is a terrible cow, and I would have done anything to spite and defy her, hehe.

12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.

Mostly in stressful and difficult situations, I close myself off from others. I prefer to be alone and to work through things by myself. I generally turn away help, but not support. As long as I know I have people behind me who love me and care for me, I pull through whatever I’m dealing with, whether that be a falling out with someone, or a really tough essay due in mere hours. I like my solitude, especially in trying times.

13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?

That’s a very tough decision for me. I feel that I’m both a very compassionate person, as well as holding a strong sense of justice. I suppose if it came down to it, I would choose justice. You can have compassion for someone who has done something terrible by looking at their motivation, and seeing logic behind it, but justice allows one to recognize the wrongdoings of the person, no matter what their situations, and deals with them accordingly. I’m a strong believer in people getting what they deserve, whether it be good or bad.

14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?

I’m a child at heart, and I hope it stays that way. I love to have fun, and I like nothing better than to goof off and laugh with people. I feel bored in overly serious situations, and I need smiles and laughter and general goofiness to truly enjoy myself. I’m the kind of person who never wants to get older. Now that I’ve passed my teens, I long to go back, and I miss the carefree days.

15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?

I always think that I would either end up in Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Ravenclaw because I place high value on education, and I have the utmost respect for people who are well read. I also respect teachers. I think anyone who could devote themselves to the educational advancement of others - and I think we all know how frustrating the task must be - is most deserving of this respect. I also say Slytherin because I think I am a very determined person, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I will go to great lengths to get what I want. I wouldn’t say I’m underhanded, but I am rather manipulative when extremely motivated.

16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!

This is a lame-o picture, but it's all I can find at the moment, lol. :P

Thanks for reading!
