1. Name: Julia
2. Age: 29
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Berlin, Germany... this might sound boring, but having lived in a place people call paradise made me realize that, out of all the wonderful places in the world, there really is no place like home.
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
It would have a huge bed with lots of blankets and pillows, a thick, soft carpet with little fuzzy bunnies jumping around all over the place, bubbles in the air, books randomly lying around and spilling out from underneath the bed, and a laptop with high-speed internet access tucked in a corner somewhere ;)
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
There are several characters I'm not exactly fond of, and Hagrid is one of them. I just never warmed up to him. Yes, I can see why Harry would love him, but to me he's just too careless (and clueless) most of the time.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Depends on what's in the glass... green tea, hot chocolate or maybe a Lava Flow, mmh, the fuller the better! No, seriously (? ^_^), it's usually half full. Life can throw the strangest things at you, but I'll just take it as it comes... looking at the world in a positive, yet not naive way, makes everything easier to deal with.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
"One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes." - The Little Prince
Because it's so easy for the eyes to deceive you. Looking at the outside of something will never tell you the whole story, only when we look deeper than simple appearances can we, maybe, find some meaning in it. The heart, the mind, it doesn't really matter what you call it, I think... what's important is that there is always more to see, more to consider, than what first meets the eye. To me, that's what life is all about, looking beyond the obvious and by that, discovering something more in even the simplest thing.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
My family are my friends, and those few I consider real friends are my family. Although, that really only applies to my close family (husband, parents, siblings)... other than that, being related to me won't make me like someone more (or less) or consider them more "worthy" than anyone else. It's someone's character that counts, after all, not some blood relationship.
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
There are so many! I remember my father telling me about the dragons in our living room carpet coming to live at midnight... and I loved his stories, even when I was far too old to believe in them any longer. One of my mother is our walks on old, overgrown train tracks, and we would role-play as characters from our favorite comic, Tintin :)
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
I'm very bad at actually doing things. Imagining, thinking, wondering, planning that I can do all day... but when it comes to putting ideas into action, I often fail miserably. Life just passes me by a lot... it takes quite a lot (and often a long time) to actually make me get up and do something. "Wasted potential" is what I hear a lot...
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry's fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
I wouldn't have gone out of my way to be involved... but if someone close to me had mentioned it or asked me to join with them, I probably would have. It's not that I would have been too worried about breaking the rules or being caught... but someone else would have had to make me aware of it happening, take the initiative and I would have come along. Venturing into unfamiliar environments all by myself is not something that comes easy to me....
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
No matter what I feel on the inside, I tend to stay calm and composed on the outside. I'll probably look for guidance from the reactions of others around me, or if that's not possible, just try to keep a clear head and think about my next step before actually doing anything. That doesn't mean I won't be nervous/scared senseless at the same time, I probably would be... just trying not to show it ^_^
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Compassion. Justice is a noble idea, but in real life things are never back and white, and it's far harder to make sure that what you think might be just really is. If the world would be more concerned about being compassionate than just, it would be a much better place, I believe.
14. Would you say that you're a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
A child at heart, definitely. I enjoy being playful... and while I can't see the world through the eyes of a child anymore, it's just fun to escape from the constraints of adult life sometimes. Although I don't think those two have to be mutually exclusive... to have both wisdom and the ability to still see and feel as a child must be just wonderful.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Ravenclaw is the house that fascinates me most, but I can see myself in Hufflepuff as well. If it really is true that the hat listens to what you wish for, I probably would be sitting on that chair for a looong time, for I'm the most indecisive person ever ^_^ Ravenclaw seems amazing, since learning and discovering is what I love most, but I would be afraid it might be too "cold" for me to feel at home. Hufflepuff on the other hand would be more of a family, but hardworking? So not me ^_^;
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
The first one is a favorite of mine... but since it's a bit old and all, I added the most recent one of me as well ^_^
