1. Name: Amelia LC Tai
2. Age: 20
3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
Well, that depends. Before retirement or after? I'd like the live in the big city for awhile, preferably New York or London, where all the big offices are, so I can go as far as I can in my career, earning big bucks and living the life of a city girl (which I'm not). My place of residence would be a penthouse, with a bath tub. That's the only concrete thing I have at the moment, penthouse and bathtub LOL. With cable, of course.
After retirement, I'd want to live in a more quieter area, like New Zealand, where you can do some light farming, and have your kids around you with 50 cats and a dog. I love New Zealand because inspite of the big ol hole in the ozone, its not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter. I'd like to have an orchard, actually, with young people coming in to room with us during the summer and helping with the picking :)
4. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
Big fluffy bed. As I'm sleepy all the time, especially during the afternoons, I can imagine myself wandering in the corridor three times and finding a soft, cozy bed just waiting for me to tumble into. Screw lessons and detention, I'd crash there right away.
There has to be food too. Snacks, crunchy stuff like crisps and sweet stuff. Chocolates is a must, and biscuits as well.
5. Who is your least favorite Harry Potter character?
I answered Fudge for this once. But I think I'll go with Bellatrix Lestrange this time. Her undying faith and belief in an insane cause makes me shudder. You see people like her at throughout the ages. She was there when 9/11 happened, and I'll bet she helped blow up Bali. She was front row with Senator McCarthy and she was one of the many people who advocated the burning times. Yeah, I don't quite like people like that.
Do I think Bella has her own story to tell? Absolutely, no doubt about it. But does it condone her actions now? No. Nothing condones killing people, or torturing them. It helps to give a more accurate picture of WHY you're doing it, but it does NOT make it right. And in the case of Bella, its like she has lost all sense of empathy for people. Not just muggles, but people in general. And that, my friends, makes for one scary chica.
6. Is the glass half empty or half full?
Well, if its filled with my favourite drink, then its half full. But if its filled with something I'm not particularly fond of, its half empty. Ie, I'm in a constant state of denial most of the time, trying to console myself when things aren't going my way.
7. Give us a quotation (Can be from a famous person, a song, or even a poem-whatever you want) you feel represents your life or personality.
And I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference
In life I strive to be special, to be unique in my opinions and thinking. It didn't take me long to realise that being like everybody else wasn't all that its cracked up to be. I don't want to be a voice in a crowd, I want to be addressing that crowd, and have every ear trained on me, listening to what I have to say.
8. In your life, who comes first: family or friends?
I find myself always being caught between the two. But the answer is family. If you're a good enough friend to me, then you're family. I view family as the people I put before myself. And I would protect my 8 year old brother with my life. Forget what I said about nothing condones murder. If you touch my brother, or make him cry, or hurt him in any way... *cracks knuckles* You'll have me to answer to. And I might not be good in kungfu, but I'm heavy, and all I need to do is sit on you and you won't be able to breathe. *arching eyebrow of doom*!
9. What is your favorite childhood memory?
Goodnight lullabies with my mum. I had a room of my own when I was around 5 years old. But I used to feel really lonely and scared of the dark so my mum would rock me back and forth every night before I slept, singing my own special song (which has since been modified for my brother *scowls*). I felt secure and safe in my mum's embrace, like nothing could bring me down.
10. What would you say is your biggest flaw?
I'm stubborn. Yes. If I think my point holds water, I'd argue it out with you till the cows come home. And its not only confined to that, I will stick out my neck just to prove a point, and its not because of bravery or whatever, its because of my stubborness.
For example. I told my dad that eating shark's fin (a delicacy in my culture and ESSENTIAL at weddings) is bad and that sharks are fast becoming endangered because of us mean shark eating chinese people, he laughed at me and said that I was stupid and the shark was already dead and cooked. Its been 5 years, I haven't touched another bowl of shark's fin soup since. I would've caved not long after my admission that day, had he not laughed at me -.-
11. If you had been at Hogwarts during Harry’s fifth year, do you think that you would have joined the D.A.?
Oh absolutely! Though I fancy that I would've tried all those jinxes and hexes out myself already. I mean, cmon, do you really see practicing spells as homework? I'd be lapping everything up like a sponge, and DA would give me a chance to showcase just how much I've progressed against other people, so yes, I'd definitely join.
12. Describe how you react to difficult or stressful situations.
I usually retain a calm facade and freak out inside. Example (though it isn't really stressful), my friend and I met Mike Shinoda (yes, from Linkin Park) when they were touring in Singapore last year, and I managed to keep my head and actually talked to the guy as opposed to my friend who freezed.
I act as though I'm not frazzled, but inside, I'm usually jumping or bitching or threatening to kill anybody who offended me. But in front of people that I'm confortable with, I'm 100% pure Amelia or Crazyames and I fangirl or bitch like crazy depending on the circumstances.
13. Which do you value more: compassion or justice?
Compassion is needed for justice. So my choice would be compassion. I'm not adverse to street justice and what you feel you need to do if you found out that that kid had just killed your mum (Four Brothers reference), but I feel that compassion is something that is sorely lacking in this world today, and therefore, much needed than the so called justice certain people advocate.
14. Would you say that you’re a child at heart, or that you have an old soul?
I am a child at heart. Its not hard to make me happy. A card, text, or phone call on my birthday will do the trick. No presents needed! But don't go getting any crazy ideas, I want presents! Likewise, I take things way too personally sometimes and as a result, I get hurt. Boohoo. I also tend to make a mountain out of a molehill when things go wrong.
So yes, in many ways, I'm a child at heart, but I hate it when people underestimate me and think that I'm stupid and naive. I'm not. Just because I choose to let you see that side of me doesn't mean that's the ONLY side of me. I might just surprise you one day.
15. Which Hogwarts House do you think that the Sorting Hat would place you in?
Er. Gryffindor? Cuz the people at
Hogwarts_Elite know what they're doing and I'm in Gryffindor, so I accept that.
16. If you have a picture of yourself and feel comfortable posting it, please do so! Pictures are fun!
