Jeb arthole said that I should probably answer this, but basically I'll reiterate what he said. Derek and I are a couple, but there also exist very powerful relationships between me, Jeb, Brandon, and Bob as well, that tie us to one another in very real ways.
I'm not going to pretend to have any terminology beyond "family" to describe it, because I don't. And I'm not sure that it's really necessary. It is what it is, and is developing along its own path. And as in any type of multi-person situation, there's also a network of varying types of one-to-one relationships.
Derek doesn't need to worry about having a place to fit in, because his place hasn't changed. He hasn't interacted with the others as much as I have yet, but that will come with time.
