I was visiting my sister and she gave this record from our mom's things - mom passed away in 2003. Dad passed on way back in '90.
My record player only plays at 33-1/3 or 45. Made a wav of that and processed it through Sony Sound Forge. I managed to take some of the hiss out and get it to a reasonable speed. Through all the processing, my mathematical speed ratio (X 1.7333) became useless, so I just had to guess at the right speed based on my memory of dad's voice, and allowing for the fact that he was 20 when he recorded this. Not sure I got it right on the money, but it sure sounds like dad to me.
A very cool find indeed.
Dad was from Charleston West Virginia, and mom was in Chicago, which is where I get my goofball accent. As you can hear, dad was a real southern boy.
