1. Home. We've got a swell house in a great neighborhood and a nice yard full of dog poop.
2. Actor's Theatre. Home away from home - great energy, great people and a great place to do theatre.
3. Harris Teeter - They almost always have my NA beer and the fresh bread is awesome.
4. VisArt Video - I love love love my independent video store. Mail order convenience is just not the same thing. And you can tell how long people have worked there by how many tattoos they have. Someday when I retire a rich man, I shall open an indy video store with a coffee/pizza cafe.
5. Theatre Charlotte - Did my first Charlotte show here, Damn Yankees, and a few years later I was Sancho in man of La Mancha.
6. Foskoskies - The best neighborhood restaurant ever. and less than 100 yards from my house.
7. Spirit Square - great downtown venue. Done many a show here, seen even more. Still have design ideas for the Duke theatre space.
8. Hawthorne Pizza - It took me three or four years to find decent pizza in Charlotte. Here it is. In spite of the noisy ambiance and the children, it's the best place in town to get good 'za.
9. Off Tryon (and SPAC) - This empty space is where Off-Tryon theatre Company used to be. The first small indy theatre I hooked up with here. Also did a bunch of theatre at another warehouse space on the other side of town, Southend Performing Arts Center (SPAC) - also a warehouse theatre. also no longer in operation. Epic Arts got its start there, thanks to Jim and Barebones Theatre. Yeah, this empty space says a lot.
10. Landmark cafe - Best place for a full-contact breakfast any time of day.
11. Scott & Claire's House. Our friends since before we moved here. Seen many a movie and recorded many a funky song here. Now new and improved with two floors and two Godsons!
12. Smelly Cat - Great little indy coffee shop. I guess the name has something to do with that Friends show. Support the indies!
