Kind of awesome, actually, and filled with more than enough moments of nerd love that my nerd rage mostly got left behind. Although, really, WTF Banshee? I mean, WTF Banshee?!
Quoth my friend commonly known as Wonder Woman after the movie: "No, my first name ain't Cassidy. It's Sean. Mister Cassidy if you're nasty

Why wasn't he playing Banshee?

We were just about to get the SOB when I was awakened by the eye pressure of the Angry Kitteh staring at me through the bedroom window.
Her food bowl was not full.

I'm up because my alarm clock started burrowing into the bed at 7 am. I would be burrowing back in myself soon, because T. is still in there, but the climbing gear is already in the car. Pick you up in forty?

There's a chance of precip, but I saw we risk it.

I'm still thinking about why the Brotherhood looks like an Ikea ad and the X-Men are so incredibly white, and given Xavier's obvious and repeatedly pointed-out privilege (and the patent institutional sexism, racism, and speciesism), I have to think that Singer's making a point about there not being any room in this society for the people who are not wealthy white guys.
I'm still sad about Darwin, though. Although really, given his power set, I like to think he just adapted by becoming an energy being.

I agree with this entirely, although being both a shameless X-fan and life-long huge LSH fan both I choose to think of Darwin as evolving into Wildfire, so that he can both have a reason for not being noticed for the rest of the movie, and go on to bet Even More Awesome™ after his 'death'.
The movie did indeed do a vastly better job of arguing Erik's side of the 'debate', not only due to the rather pitiful attempt at promoting Charles' side.
Other than the small faults listed here (Moira, Banshee and the bias towards the Brotherhood,) it was a damn fine movie indeed.
[Edited to add, 'cause I'm a doofus]: I got to see it in a cinema with ~40 or so other nerds, we had the entire screen to ourselves due to a small miscalculation by the staff of said cinema, and then we all stood around outside geeking about it for at least 40 minutes afterwards.
A fine Friday night indeed, and well worth the money
