heathen is such a sift exit: good but paling next to his strongest albums. still, it does have some gems, and that's a better send off than what he called "a stinker."

do you know the album "after low" (2002)? probably not. it was released as part of a san francisco not-for-profit gallery show. in it a bunch of local (SF) musicians pay tribute to the low album and there's some great covers in there. it must be impossible to find now (i have a copy in berlin, but knowing how cds deteriorate, it's probably dead by now.
i copied it to my computer, but all my music was lost in a hard drive crash. still, i do know the forces who put it together, and you are inspiring me to see if maybe they have a copy still ... i'm guessing if the answer is yes, you would like a file, right? so i'll see what i can do. it was "a limited edition" so they might be sitting tight on it, but that would be a shame, as it really should be heard.

that would be wonderful, thanks! i'd never heard of after low.

i worked on this playlist for two years. so much of bowie's later music is good, but the energy is so... monotonous. it's all so steady. i liked that some of the heathen and reality tracks attempted to address the religious and occult issues left dangling in the '70s directly.

Wonderful document of the making of the "soft exit" of David Bowie. It's still a fantasy of ours he will come back with yet another record, but there may well be no need for it in his eyes.
