Is there any reason for a sound card to suddenly stop working? When I try to play anything/do anything with sound etc. my pc says

if it was me, I'd buy a new sound card.

Or try one of the ones I probably have down in the basement. Feel free to drop by and get one.

Try grabbing a new driver for your soundcard? It's a bit of a generic solution, but it often works. :)
