Maggie really hates her crib. In fact she never sleeps in it anymore. She sleeps with me on the twin mattress on her bedroom floor. I tried to convert her crib into the toddler bed feature but my husband helped me realize that she’d probably really end up hurting herself when she inevitably fell or jumped off. I’m thinking about taking the crib ( Read more... )

I used to put pillows and blankets on the floor for Allie so that when she did fall off the bed, she wouldn't hurt herself. If I remember correctly, toddler beds are a little bit lower to the ground so that when they roll over it's not too bad of a fall.

I would just put the crib mattress down on the floor? But I don't think she would get hurt falling off her toddler bed? Is it very far off the ground?

Thanks. I think I am going to get her a cute sheet set this weekend and take the crib down. She's going to need more room for her toys after Christmas.

Okay, that was my reply to the next comment. Sorry. I'd rather put the twin mattress on the floor (instead of the crib mattress) because it would give her more room and I could sleep with her if she needed me. I think the toddler beds that are converted from the baby beds are higher off the ground than a normal toddler bed, but I may be wrong.

Yes, I would day it's twice as high. I was thinking of the regular toddler beds, they are only 5 inches off the floor.

I dont think it would hurt anything to just let her sleep on the mattress on the floor. As long as she is happy and safe, who cares what it looks like?

I think whatever works best is the right way to go. So what if a mattress on the floor doesn't look as 'put together' or whatever as a crib or a toddler bed...if Maggie sleeps best that way, then by all means do it! :)
