099. Apples - ...haelien (writer's choice)
PG-13, 1,615 words, extremely AU, sci-fi, crack.
notes: I...don't even know. I just wanted to give Donghae a real alien to play with.

“I still don’t get why they had to send us all the way out here!” Donghae turned and gave Kibum a glare, not that it was Kibum’s fault, of course, but he was the only person around for Donghae to glare at. “In a system way out in the middle of nowhere! There’s nothing here to interest the Academy, after all.”

Kibum watched as Donghae trudged, walking with an obvious grudge held in each step, over towards a tree. Its leaves were a dull shade of red, and on this particular planet, red leaves were the sign of good health and growth in trees. Donghae didn’t seem to take note of this, or care too much - Kibum was the nature expert, after all - and just aimed another of his glares at it.

“Unless they’ve chanced to find, oh I don’t know, apples growing here that keep you forever young. Or something.”

Kibum snorted, “Yeah, right. Then they would have only sent me out here.”

Kibum was the ships expert in all things relating to nature, whilst Donghae was the expert on all Intergalactic life forms. And, he considered his position on the ship - hell, in the Junior Academy - far more important than being sent to scope out life on a tiny, out-of-the-way planet in a less than interesting system.

With a groan, Donghae dropped himself onto the grass - which was the same shade of red as the leaves on the trees - and ran a hand back through his hair in his frustration. “I’m sure this is all the Third Captain’s fault. Did I tell you, he asked me to meet him in his rooms, after regular work hours? I didn’t, of course. I’m not as easy as he likes to think.”

Kibum raised an eyebrow. “Ah, so you think in refusing Captain Choi something he can, quite easily, have gotten elsewhere, that he had words with the First Captain, and sent you out here on a meaningless assessment mission?” It was obvious by Kibum’s tone that he didn’t buy into this theory at all.

“Are you trying to say I’m not good enough to make him angry? I’ll have you know, Kim Kibum, that I am very much worth it. You don’t know what I can do! There’s this great little trick I know, when you push your hips u-”

“Please!” Kibum said quickly, holding up a hand. “Please, I don’t want to know, Donghae. Catching you at it that one time was bad enough. I don’t need to add any further mental scarring.”

A slow grin formed on Donghae’s face, “oh yeah, that was pretty funny, actually. Hyukjae still can’t look you in the face, can he?”

Cringing, as if in pain at even the mention of that incident, Kibum opened his mouth to speak-and was interrupted by a voice that didn’t belong to either himself, or Donghae.

“Excuse me, but I hope you two fine gentleman,” and the word was emphasized as if this was the last thing either of them were, “are aware that you are currently on my property. Trespassing. Which is punishable by-”

Both were more than surprised at the sudden sound of this new voice, and were up quickly to meet it, though there was no sign of the speaker yet.

“Ah, we’re very sorry to inconvenience you,” Kibum spoke up, loud and with the right amount of chastened apology in his voice, “we had no idea this was someone’s property. We’ve never actually been on this planet, before.”

Donghae, who was searching to catch sight of the voice, saw first. His first realisation was that it was a female. There was a smile on her face, as she stepped towards them. More of a smirk, actually. Red hair, bright and cut rather short. Her skin was smooth and the nicest shade of green Donghae had ever seen on any female before. She was, actually, just about the most beautiful female he’d ever seen, in any system and on any planet.

As Kibum continued to speak, trying to negotiate their way out of the situation, Donghae took in more of the strange female. He’d seen many different life forms before, it was part of his job after all, but he’d never come across a species quite like this. She was slim, and though she certainly looked female in the face, her body didn’t give off much of that, not with the clothes she was wearing, anyway, which made her look rather androgynous, with the lack of curves. She had four arms as well, which wasn’t an unusual sight within the Intergalaxy these days. And just about the longest legs Donghae had ever seen. Donghae liked legs.

Her eyes - a rather shocking blue - focused on him, caught him staring, and he almost blushed. Almost. Donghae was used to dealing with a variety of peoples and species, part of the job, and yet, he couldn’t quite stop himself from looking at her.

“Is your friend aware that it’s bad custom to stare? Most especially at a beautiful female.”

Kibum shot a glare at Donghae and elbowed him sharply in the side. “Stop it. You want to get out of this alive or not?” He hissed angrily beneath his breath. Donghae could hardly have cared less, about anything that Kibum had to tell him at that moment.

The woman seemed almost amused by the on goings, but that smirk - cocky and rather insulting, actually - still remained on her face. Donghae couldn’t stop looking at those lips.

“You’re funny little men, I’ll excuse you this time.” Kibum couldn’t quite conceal the sigh of relief he let slip at these words. “Leave immediately. I have better things to do with my time than deal with little space-boys.”

And with that haughty dismissal, she turned to leave.

Donghae couldn’t let that happen. It was his job, after all, to find out as much about new races as he could, and they had been sent to the planet to assess its life forms.

“Wait,” he said, taking a step forward, acting entirely without thinking. “Lee Donghae, Official Researcher of Intergalactic Life forms. I’d be very interested in talking to you a little. Please.”

She turned, and gave him a look with those blue eyes, a look that melted Donghae right to his very core. “An Official Researcher? Fine. We can talk, a little.” And that smirk was back again as she added, “since you are rather cute.”

When she’d said ‘a little’, Donghae hadn’t been aware of just how little talking there was going to be. In a room inside her home, when it was just the two of them - Kibum had been permitted to explore the gardens - very, very few words had actually passed between them.

“Are you familiar with our people?” She asked, and it wasn’t until Donghae looked up that he realised how close she was now. He could just feel the warmth of her breath against his face.

“N-not very,” he admitted. And he was sure that the colour had started to rise in his cheeks.

“Well, after our little talk, I think you’ll know much, much more.” One of those wonderfully long legs was now draped across his lap, and Donghae swallowed thickly. She really was like no one he’d ever encountered before.

An arm around his neck and she closed the distance between them, and Donghae thought he was going to melt at the way she kissed him. Her lips practically burned against his own and she left a taste of sweetness lingering on his tongue.

“You want to find out more?” Her lips were hot against his ear, her tongue hotter still as it traced the curve of his skin, and Donghae shivered involuntarily. He’d never been so, simply put, stirred up by anyone before, and certainly never so much by a female. And yet here she was, making him feel hot and flustered and burning for a better, a deeper, taste of her, to find out more.

“Your name,” he whispered thickly, in the breath between their lips. His hands were already on her now, touching her, lightly tracing the straight lines of her body, and down the curve of her leg. He really, really liked legs.

As one of her hands slipped easily past his belt, she whispered back, “you can call me Chul.”

And then Donghae found himself completely overwhelmed; she had four hands, and knew how to put all of them to very, very good use. Drowning in the sensation of her, the effect she had over him, the burning she caused in the pit of his stomach, Donghae was far, far too gone, and much too naked by then, to even be surprised, when he found out one of the most interesting details about her particular race.

But, it was for later, much later, to actually think about the interesting fact that apparently, Chul and her people were both male and female.

Until then, Donghae was just going to enjoy this experience very, very much indeed.

“Well you certainly took your time,” Kibum said, sounding just as grumpy as he looked, when a couple of hours later Donghae finally joined him outside in the garden.

There was the biggest, most self-satisfied smile spread across Donghae’s face, and he was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet as he walked over.

Looking almost suspicious, Kibum questioned, “what took you so long, anyway? Must have been a fascinating talk.”

“You’re just jealous you have to work with plants,” was all Donghae answered. And he was very, very much glad that he didn’t have Kibum’s job. His own was far more interesting.
